Good game this. Japan were superb for the majority of that half but Italy dominated the last 10 minutes. A tactical switch by Prandelli helped somewhat because with Giovinco coming on for Aquilani, Balotelli wasn't left so isolated.

Fantastic game of football. Japan - Honda and Kagawa in particular - were outstanding. So much energy and commitment and an awful lot of skill. They can count themselves unfortunate to have lost and been eliminated on that display, whereas the Italians have to reassess their defensive organisation.

BBC Sport saying the FA are edging towards giving the job to Michael Appleton. Even Alan Sex couldn't imagine the photos of famous people that this bloke must have in his safe.

Who wouldn't want him in charge after these impressive stats?

Paddy Power are offering 2/5 on Spain -6 for this evening. Surely that's just buying money.

They're actually giving 4/6 on Spain -7. Definitely throwing 6p on that.

Spain will score 6 in the first half alone I reckon.

I dont doubt that this will be a chance for the Spain second string to play, but that's perhaps even more detrimental to Tahiti because these lot will want to post a huge score to get noticed in the first XI.

We're talking Javi Martinez, Navas, Cazorla, Torres, Mata, Fabregas likely to start in the forward positions, they may even play with three at the back which would allow for another attacker like Negredo.

Nigeria were fucking awful yet still scored 6 despite looking like a team of newly-born antelopes.

I think another good bet would be for Spain to score within the first 5 minutes, and I'd even look at the chances of Spain scoring from their own half.

Torres could match the number of league goals he's scored last season tonight as he's selected to play against mighty Tahiti. Spain have picked their second string players but it's still a ridiculously strong line-up. Pepe also starts.

Going to be conservative and go for a 10-0 win for Spain.
