Great Documentaries

Watched the Chavez/Taylor one a while ago after a recommendation from either you or PB15 I think it was. Great stuff.

Also mentioned at the time was 'Assault In The Ring' which although sounding like it could be hardcore porn is actually one of the best documentaries I've ever seen. Even if you aren't a boxing fan, it's still well worth a watch.

I had read about it, but had never seen pugilist dementia shown so graphically before, it was difficult to watch Taylor speak. They show a similar thing with Riddick Bowe and his physical decline; when you watch the fights with Golota, you can almost see it's taking far too much out out of him. The second fight, in particular, might be the most savage heavyweight I've ever seen - a man of Golota's size and weight landing cleanly with every 2/3 punches is unheard of.

Assault in the ring was pretty good as well. Boxing lends itself extremely well to the documentary format.

Fetish by Nick Broomfield is one of the weirdest and funniest things I've ever seen. That bloke who believes that being ritually degraded to the point of licking clean his mistress' shit-splattered toilet bowl helps him not act upon his urges to torture and kill people is genuinely disturbing though.

Just watched 'The Bridge' - about the people (an average of 20 each year) that kill themselves by jumping off of the Golden Gate Bridge. Quite sad, poignant, especially the parts where you really do see people's final moments. Not the most upbeat of documentaries but very interesting nonetheless.

We started watching that a while back on a mates Netflix account and me and the mrs had to turn it off at the sight of the first jumper.

Didn't want that shit staying with me.

Hoop Dreams is good too.

Brilliant timing.
