James Richardson should be the host

Funny how most football fans I've met say exactly the same thing. Instead we get Jonathan Pearce. Personally thought Vialli was excellent and had something to say about the style and tactics of each respective side.

One of Andy Gray's few saving graces was that the guy seemed to actually like football, he looked genuinely grateful that someone had given him a job and let him talk about footy and he'd buzz off his gadgets and of seeing good matches and goals. Fair's fair, at least pretending you're alive should be a bare minimum requirement for someone in such an enviable position.

Haha , totally agree , A dead dog has more enthusiasm than Lawro , even Mark Bright has enthusiasm.

They seem to be struggling to find younger pundits who've recently stopped playing. Lots of people have been raving about Gary Neville but he's always struck as pretty boring. Savage is good for a laugh but does he have much to say?

I'm not sure where the next generation of pundits is coming from to be honest. Hansen is clearly bored with the game and needs to retire to the golf course. Is there anyone who can do it better at the moment though?

Perhaps the recently retired players are minted and can't be bothered sitting in a studio every Saturday or Sunday?

Sly only changed last season (season before?) as they were pretty much forced into giving Gray the sack. Keown & Dixon are slowly being put on motd2/ motd. Shearer has jumped right into the prime spot.

Haven't read anything positive about Lawrenson and he was one of us, imagine what other fans (viewers that pay his salary) think?

Lawro is a bit cringey most of the time but still makes me laugh every now and then. Jockey is a god.

Neither are responsible for the dross on the pitch that they have to comment on.

It may not be what everyone wants but at least it sounds real. If it is a crap game their comments reflect that - if something is happening that is worth talking about they do.

Much sooner that small degree of "honesty" than having to listen to some name who has been totally de-personalised by years of media training - never critical and only ever damn with faint praise etc.

Someone made a point about Lineker that is very true - he shouldn't be letting them get away with it and should be challenging them more. Bluenosed crisp munching prick.

The whole idea of punditry makes me a bit queasy to be honest. Hansen and especially Shearer just basically repeat back to us what we are wacthing. Its the same with politics. That fella stands outside parliment and repeats whats just been said in there. Then someone repeats that back then it becomes 'the news' or even worse 'the truth'. We live in a system that is full of 'repeaters'.
