Why blindly defend anyone, i don't get it. If a company had a major issue they would fix it. We don't want mbappe and haaland, we literally need a player better than someone who was playing non league last year and probably fast forward the summer buy to now, so our best players can play in their preferred positions.

Spending on 2 cbs could get us back on the track in the race and will help in the cl. It's not a gamble, it's a necessity, and the rewards could be huge. We are making shedloads.

I still think something will happen this week but we are throwing points away due to inactivity and we shouldnt throw away anymore.

I dont get it. Its a financial risk buying someone but doing nothing is a huge financial risk too. Theres no status quo in this scenario with long term injuries to Gomes and VVD plus matip being injury prone. Take some pressure off the team take the financial risk because we are at financial risk regardless.

If we don't sign a centre back we could really drop right down the table and finish 7th or 8th this year.  If finance is an issue then move on at least 1 of Minamino or Origi and use that money. We could bring back Elliott from Blackburn and have him involved with the first team?

Half of the season played, and we find ourselves behind Moyes in the table. Great. Let us by all means not fix this with a new CB.

Don't be a prick

I dont think he is being a prick. If you cant live on wage,or you want more than a wage about 95% of the planet will never see in their lives then its the player who is a prick.

I think that when we get sodomised on Thursday things will come to a head

Thing is if matip plays we will probably be OK.

Then next week matip gets injured and we are fucked and it's too late.

Not that FSG would do anything even if spurs do bum us the cunts

Yeah a massive summer spree ahead

Until the summer then it will be without Champions League football we cannot attract the type of player good enough

or

We go on a massive spree like the one after selling Suarez and replacing big players with unproven talent happy to sign for a bigger club without champions league football, funded by the sales of big price players wanting to leave

Yeah , in an ideal world footballers would play for fun ,- but let's not pretend he's the only player on big money here or anywhere else and his wages are payed by a highly profitable business , of which he is an integral part.

As I said earlier , who knows it's all about money? Length of contract perhaps but who knows?

The original question was can Barcelona afford him in their current financial meltdown so not sure how that’s me singling him out. I love Gini and want him to stay but if the contract we’ve offered and he’s turned down by the way isn’t good enough then good luck in Spain.  What’s so hard to understand?

I have no sympathy with any footballer who isnt honest with the fans no matter who he plays for. I'm not saying its about the money(it might be,it might not) its just the deceit. He's going,we know it,he knows it and there is a good chance it is about the money too. We are current League and World Club Champions so why would you leave if not for more money? I admit that Wijnaldum is not alone in this but its why I have little interest in anything other than the 90 minutes as the game is rotten to the core. Owners, players, agents,I have little time for any of them whoever they play for. At least Rushie was honest when he went to Juve in 87 and said it was about the money and the fans wished him well because of his honesty.

I'm sure Wijnaldum will get an offer from Juventus as they love a freebie the tight fucking twats. They make FSG look like drunken sailors on whore leave who've been overpaid 3 months wages in one go.

The same Juventus that spent 100 million on Ronaldo followed by 80 odd million on Dr Ligt the following season and 70 million on Arthur this season? That Juventus? Wish our owners were tight cunts like theirs.

But yeah wouldn't be surprised to see him end up there or at another Italian side.

They only paid €10m for Arthur.

There’s no such thing as instant chemistry, or instant success. There’s always an adjustment period, which we’re going thru right now.The players are adjusting & reading the new relationships of the new positioning of certain players. With half a season to play we have far more potential than at least 2 teams above us. Maybe more. Spurs always choke. West Ham? They have zero experience of closing out a season for European cup football. They’ll choke. We can moan and complain about lack of points but we’ve actually only conceded 3 goals in the last 6 league games and we still have the 3rd best goal difference. Matip and Hendo are not far away from returning.

I say we’ve got 4th w/o much effort, and although Leicester look good, they have been up and down all season.

Us, City and one of either Utd & Leicester. That’s my call for top three, but don’t ask me to sort the order.

You sound like people who were proclaiming we would walk the league again at the start of the season

Yeah they paid 70m for Arthur, and Barcelona paid 60m for Pjanic. Dated the transfers so that Barcelona make profit in one window, and so that Juventus chop up their transfer fee over four years.

Barcelona did the same with Valencia with a pair of keepers.

I think is going to get quite messy for them actually. I notice they seem to have pulled away from that Konate deal, which can only suggest to me they didn't want to/didn't have the funds available to sign him. That was before the £300m windfall they knew that was coming down the line.

At a cultural level they are now very split. I don't think they really know what to do with FSG. You kind of have the scab end of their fanbase, that essentially fine comfortabe with what they did but too scared to voice it (as the politburu have decided it is now a bad thing) you've then got those who are fewming about it all but don't want to launch into a full insurrection against FSG. Finally you've got those who are really angry and want them gone- and tats very mucthe way SOS and Spion Kop are going.

As fanbases go they seem to struggle when they don't all have the same thing to parrot. For a fanbase that is so diverse I'm always surprised they depend upon such singularity on outlook. I think this disunity will hurt them, and it's only likely to get worse in the summer as they have little to spend and the likes of City and Chelsea pull further way.

The curveball in this is if Klopp goes. Then you're at H & G territory.    Like Quote Reply
    • Because he's a two faced cunt, just like martin samuel. Supposedly a dyed in the wool 'ammer's fan, he's so far up city's arse I dont think he could see the London Stadium or whatever it's called, with a telescope.   The cunt, samuel, is even bigging up the Saudi's as better owners than any of the 6 PL clubs. Well yeah, if you entice so called dissidents into an embassy, stick his head in a poly bag so he suffocates slowly then chop him up like a butchered cow in a slaughterhouse, then you'd have to be off the scale myopic to say the Saudi's will be better owners than any of the PL 6!   The fucking lengths the media are going sucking off the other 14 PL clubs is nauseating. Not one has mentioned the duplicity of west ham, villa and brighton amongst clubs who wanted no relegation as a condition for re starting the league last season.   Not one has mentioned the £26m+ of taxpayers money moral high horse fc has sequestrated  for its own purposes. Not one has mentioned Aston Villa FC selling its ground to its owner to try and finance promotion to the PL and circumvent the EFL's finance rules. Not one has mentioned Brighton & Hove Albion forcing a public inquiry and hence use of taxpayer's money regarding the building of the Amex stadium at Falmer.   I could go on but you get my drift. We all know samuel, birt, lowe, wallace and the rest of them would have been scrabbling to get on the plane and enjoy the 'hospitalies' in these foreign stadiums to report on the games involving the 6 if this has actually come about. Fucking hypocrites.
    • Point 1. Rule 34 existed for the majority of Liverpool's existence.    Point 2. This created an environment where owners were more custodians than oligarchs, sovereign states and speculators.    Point 3 . Under the current system owners will and are obligated to make as much money as possible for their investor's.   Point 4. This will always clash with the demands of the supporter unless there is intervention.
    • It’s not just fans, apparently, it’s actually the other 14 clubs, which makes it sound like an even bigger load of vindictive shite.
    • I know supporters feel helpless but your situation is still markedly better than the state of things here in North America. We've long since become accustomed to franchise owners making wholesale changes whenever they want regardless of fan outrage. Teams are moved from city to city most often to cash in on a free stadium or tax subsidies from the new hosts, whilst other cities are blackmailed to offer the same to keep their beloved "insert name".   Sometimes fan interest align with the players union or the owners and we get a bit of an ally in our corner but that's rare, usually its millionaires fighting with billionaires with the fans left to pay for it all in the end. Politicians sometimes take up the fight but more often than not they are complicit in the fleecing.    It should be noted that this is not only an issue in the so-called "major leagues". The city I live in has a team in the Quebec Major-Junior hockey league, comprised mostly of high school aged boys who are heading for the pro's (the other route is the NCAA). The team is owned by the family who owns Irving Oil, the largest local corporate conglomerate. Aside from generally telling the government what to do the team's owner recently played a huge role in pressuring the city and province to build a new arena for his team (sold to the public as a convention centre). All just to keep this team of teenagers from moving to some other community that would have been more than happy to spread their legs for the chance.    There is no doubt in my mind had FSG got their way with the ESL that it would have led some day to them threatening to move the team. Yet you all stopped the ESL in its tracks, which simply would have been impossible in North America if owners wanted something similar or worse.    You can't get the money out of the game but you do have immense influence to curb the worst instincts of the billionaires. Supporter's groups from across Europe should form a select commission to study ways to make real practical changes to the governance of the sport that don't rely on the usual suspects from government, UEFA, and FIFA, who are all inevitably in a conflict of interest, and easily corrupted.    You can't get rid of the billionaires but this is a great time to seize the initiative on reform to strengthen your position.
