As big a tit as parry could be, he became more conservative with each passing year under Moores. This is the fella who put us all on the path we're on now by driving the early years of the premier League. He had been far from corner shop mentality. But his job at Liverpool was to run us as we'd always been run, while simultaneously trying to keep us competing on the pitch - those things were mutually exclusive and I don't believe parry would have run the club had Moores not been the owner he was. We didn't have to live through h&g. We didn't have to be run by people on the other side of the world who have absolutely zero interest in us outside of how much money we can make them. We could have cracked on with what we needed to do and that included sorting the ground. As I said earlier, the only plus side to come from it all is the planning laws have allowed us to stay at Anfield. I find it amazing that for a club that is supposed to pride itself on its socialist principles and the city it is based we would think the best outcome is to be owned by a bunch of hedgefund and private equity investors from America with no footballing interest.

At the point where FSG appeared we werent exactly swamped with ownership offers of the right kind unfortunately.

The same fella who fucked up getting Gerrards contract, Parry was a dickhead though Gerrard himself weren't great in all that.

I don't disagree with that. Personally I would have preferred he ran the club and had others doing the work, like a real ceo if you know what I mean? Parry's biggest issue in that period was he wanted to be hands on through every department, recruitment, contracts, marketing, ticket sales. But that comes back to the corner shop mentality that was driven by Moores. He needed to hire specialists around him, but he never did.

Running as a business is fine, even businesses need to invest regularly be it personnel, infrastructure or taking on new partners. Two of those have been addressed with further building and partnerships happening.Personnel wise you need to evolve as they know, no 25 year service and a watch. Time will tell but a rebuild will be needed sooner rather than later will they do it? Will they sell on?

Going to be shit or bust time soon enough!

Yeah agreed but in fairness to FSG this is how they said the club would be run. I dont see  good alternative to them .

I don't want to go round in circles on this as we've done it loads of times. But for me comes down to a couple of key things.

1. We're paying for the ground. Yet they commited to that solution. Personally at the cut price deal they bought us, I think the infrastructure projects as part of the sales should be on them. The training ground we're doing now should be on the club, that's just a cost of doing business.

2. They say we'll only spend what we earn. Yet they do the accounts. Where does all the money go? They can't have it both ways, they can't be the cleverest in the world overtaking Man United one minute and then skinter than a smack head in a shop doorway the next. I don't believe we're skint. Even in the last accounts in the 1st part of the pandemic we turned over almost 500m and only 66% went on wages. Where does the rest go?

I've no issue with the general principle the club needs to be self sufficient, but the bottom line is I don't believe that's how we're being run, we're being run far.more conservatively than that. And at every single turn they just try and squeeze more and more money with complete greed. They are greedy cunts.

The EBITDA excludes interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation so does include wages and other actual costs including transfers (the non-cashflow amortisation of players wages over the lifetime of the contract is show further down).

If you buy a player for 50 million on a 5 year deal you can amortise that cost over the course of the contract but you still have to physically pay that money. It may be the clubs agrees a two year plan, all the money up front, etc etc, unfortunately the detail of these don't get itemised for obvious reasons.

Chuck in the day to day running of a football club, travel, Nivea face cream.

The millionaire owners of a retail and betting company don't exactly scream socialism either though.

Everyone's always searching for this unicorn owner that doesn't exist

True. The owners of Stoke City are amongst the very wealthiest in the UK. In fact, the wife who supposedly created Bet365 out of a portacabin, has drawn the largest wage \ dividend in the UK of a private company in the last 2 years.

Stoke City have never challenged for a trophy while those owners have run the club, have been in the Championship for the last couple of season and claimed furlough money.

Moore’s was a spoilt playboy who the family knew had no business sense. Great Liverpool man heart in the right place and all.

Whenever people say that we need a local owner who loves the club, I always think of Moores and Kenwright.

Personally, I want the people in charge of the money at the club to be detached from the football side and to just do their job, provided that (a) they are prepared to invest in success, because they see that as a way to make profits; and (b) they don't alienate the fans, because they recognise the matchday atmosphere as an important part of the value of the brand.

When FSG first took over we were happy spending 20m a season and what we sold, that was a long time back as you know and 20m is a back-up fullback now.

We have evolve from there they need to see that, I’m not a doom mongerer but there comes a time and it’s fast approaching. Sounds like a line from LOTR

Read that we've got 880 members of staff on our payroll. No wonder we were looking to furlough

The Echo come the close of the transfer window.

How Furloughing would have saved Liverpool Millions to use in the transfer window but going back on that decision scuppered the summer transfer plans.

But what if it was 'on Klopp,' what then, sack him or just repeat the mantra?

Seems some people want the club to operate like city and chelsea but hide behind saying they dont.

Might have been on Klopp, I wasn't there, but I suspect neither were you?

My opinion is that any manager who wants to compete, and Klopp is certainly that, would want to buy a decent, ready CB when you have your 3 first choices all out with long term injuries? - We clearly didn't do that and it cost us dearly.

The way City operate, and Chelsea to a great degree, de-values the trophies they win ( buy ) I don't necessarily want that, but remember - "We can compete with anyone" apparently ( just not on a regular basis it seems )

Hence why that Bet365 bird is rich and will remain quite so.

And I answered - but do you disagree that a manager would wan to buy a quality CB in the situation we were in? and if that is the case, who is it on that we didn't

I really don't get the point(s) you are trying trying make.

Are you saying Klopp - the same man who was willing to wait a year to get VVD, and who waited a year to get Keita - would have bought someone for the sake of it even if it wasn't the CB he wanted?

He's been playing a long term game since he became a manager at Mainz. You don't need 2 functional eyes to see that.

I am a bit nervous at the lack of incoming this transfer window. I would have liked to see another Jota-level (and similar age) forward to replace Origi and keep our forward line fresh.

Was he ever in a position where he had 3 senior CB's injured long term, but was top of the league at Christmas whilst defending the trophy at Mainz ?

You don't 2 functioning eyes to see how we struggled and needed quality, quickly

I think Jurgen thought he'd get through the season with 3 first choice CBs hence part of the reason he let Lovren move on. He could have blocked that and said tough titty to Lovren.

He clearly didnt forsee losing all 3 first choice CBs and considered Fabinho and Henderson, as an emergency, should cover.

End of the day we coped very well in my opinion with Kabak who Allison wiped out on his debut causing a goal for Leicester, Phillips and Williams. It's easy to say yeah just go out and get Koulibaly or equivalent centre back but the reality in getting a player to just come in at the drop of a hat, is a different story.
