You've got to give Kenny the chance to give this team an identity

Well I don't see any reason to change my mind, I think he deserves another season. I also believe the powers that be will think the same. Thankfully this is a decision that none of us can make.

I agree he should be given another season to turn things around.

The problem is I dont think he will be given much money for new players to do it.

The owners have had there fingers burnt once already giving money to invest in new players and I cant see them bank rolling him again somehow.

We do not need a lot of new players though. Hopefully he will get another season as until the confidence drained out of the team we defended well and were consistently dominant; even against the better teams.

Carroll and Suarez works we just need to replace Spearing with a DM to back up Lucas and we will be set. A top attacking wide player with pace would obviously help and I'm sure with Kuyt and Maxis wages off the bill we can do that.

I don't understand all the negativity - getting to two cup finals in a season where our best two players have missed massive chunks of the season and we've played without a specialist DM for most is hardly bad.

Agreed. See what happened last time popular opinion, and the media guided decisions at this club.

I could be wrong, as could you. Fortunately very few are privvy to all going ons behind the scenes, ultimately they will make a decision regarding the future direction, which we all hope will be in the best interest of the club.

The crux of the matter is that as a whole, regardless of our opinion, we need to stand by Kenny and refrain from directing any abuse toward him. Yes we have the right to question, and yes we are entitled to our belief, but the man that he is deserves far more respect than HAS been afforded to him by many of the support.

The negativity stens from finishing 8th or maybe worse. No amount of cup runs can disguise how poor we have been in the league.

Dont forget the loss of Agger, which coincided with the worst of the poor run of form.

What happened? Hodgson left? The previous owners left? They were both the right decisions!

I was actually refering to the appointment of the clown. Hodgson was booted because at that stage it was obvious to all that he was beyond useless.

Yes, but there are obvious reasons for that other than poor management. The basis for Kenny's team is in place and there is evidence from how we have played more often than not that next year we will continue to improve. Getting someone else in now will disrupt that.

The only signing that is questionable to me is Downing. Although I suspect he will be useful and effective coming off the bench, especially where we are ahead and he has a bit more space to operate in. He has played as a counter attacker his entire career so it is a bit of a change now for him to be desperately trying to unlock the two banks of four every team seems to employ against us.

I think that might have been in reference to Hodgson coming in? We had the journos and TV/radio folk cramming Roy down our throats just before and throughout the World Cup.

I'd love nothing more than Kenny to stay and turn it around but if he isn't going to have any money why keep him? its obvious he can't do it with this lot

I agree that it is in our best interests that he remains.

The criticism that he has received has been muted - anyone else would have been out. That he has not is more an indication of reduced expectations than supporter largesse.

I agree that abuse is uncalled for - but it is also part of the rough and tumble that he wanted and signed up for, he does not need protecting.

I can't actually see many people asking for Kenny to be protected - to me, the gist of the thread is a call for our fans to stop being so knee-jerk and impatient.

Have I misread it?

Expected from the media and other teams fans, not ours though. That should be where we draw the line.

I see some parallels with Kenny this season and Rafa's final season with regarsd to the way both have been treated in the press.

It begins with amusement tinged with contempt, then just contempt with regards to his percieved treatment of the press, and then outright glee at any failures. We failed one of our managers in that regard. we shouldnt see it happen to our greatest servent.

The owners will make a decision on him whether we boo or cheer the man. I say regardless of what happens, lets give him what he deserves for all he's done for us throughout his career.

Based in South Africa as I am, i lap up anything and everything i can with regards to Liverpool. The amount of utter crap I've read regarding the man is vile beyond belief, from "supporters".

Fair comment.

The "impatient" argument is muddied by the fact that the impatience is not about 18 months, it is about over twenty titleless years.

Furthermore, in football 18 months is around half the lifespan of an average manager.

There are occasions when managerial reigns are simply doomed, Hodgson, elsewhere Christian Gross, Chris Hutchings and Alex McLeish at Villa being good examples. You simply cannot put Kenny's current tenure with the aforementioned.

Going forwards, the elephant in the room is that "improvement" to 7th might be as good as it gets.

Johannesburg, Africa's land of opportunity and the the current spiritual home of violent crime.

Although its not all that bad unless there's strikers in town... which is quite often.

I haven't heard to much bile from LFC fans who think he needs to go, I think most like myself think it just won't work but do so with heavy heart, of course the media and other fans spout shit about him, the reason being they are utter cunts

but what I have to say is, if he was anyone but Kenny Dalglish would you want him to stay after this season?

Nice one - haven't had the chance to get to Joburg yet but may do a little later in the year.

IF the owners decided that they were not going to give him money, then why keep him? I don't believe they would do that. I also think Kenny is the kind of man that would hold his hands up and part ways with the club if he knew that he was not up to the job.

Nobody is going to convince me that we haven't improved under Kenny, some of the football we play is great to watch, well except for the decision making in front of goal.

Sure we have had our off days when we've been utter dogshit, show me a team that doesn't have days like that. The problem has been, when we've been playing scintillating football we haven't managed to score. That we spent £35m to try to solve that problem and failed, is what annoys a lot of people.

If we're still saying this a year from now then we need to look to change, I don't think anyone would disagree. But I believe that Kenny can make the changes in the summer, I believe he will get the cash to do that (how much, nobody knows) and I also believe that the inclusion of midweek europa league games will benefit the squad as a whole.

All our managers are deserving of respect( I am in a minority in thinking that Hodgson, whilst unsuitable and the architect of his own demise was treated badly by our support).

I see no parallels between Kenny ‘s treatment in the press this season, which has been incredibly reserved in the circumstances, and Rafa’s last season, when briefing by all had reached epidemic proportions. Kenny’s relationship with the press away from the cameras is excellent, and that has helped him.

I don’t think that Kenny wants to be judged on any other basis other than the job he is doing. He has asked for no special treatment, nor should he be offered its as manager. If Carra came up to him complaining about being dropped saying “But look what I have done for the club” he would be given short shrift by Kenny. And that is exactly how it should be – for everyone.

Can you give some examples of unwarranted bad treatment by our supporters for Hodgson please.

Honestly, its not that great. Theres some great stuff to do outside the city limits, but other than a couple of malls and an amusement park... its quite dead.

In terms of scenery and nightlife, Cape Town is, well, practically the best you'll get in South Africa. Port Shepstone has the best surfing in the world, Durban has the best beaches in the country, and if you're looking for good safaris MP or the Eastern Transvaal is where its at. You really only go to Johannesburg if you live and work there, its a gaping black hole with plenty space left in it for smore shattered dreams and crushed aspirations. It is the heartbeat of the African economy though.
