I think Spearing reminds me more of Mike Marsh than Henderson does, not trying to be snide or anything but I just based on the style of play. Marsh was a bit terrier like from what I remember.

They say Mike Marsh was the best player in training, time after time but when selected on the pitch shrank. I heard similar things said about Darren Potter.

I reckon Henderson is ace when the pressure is off in 5 a sides etc and Im sure he could do like a billion keepies ups and plenty of skills that you need to practice a thousand times but he isnt right, in tha hed.

If someone would've told me 3 years ago that spearing would be starting in a Fa cup final i would've told him your joking

Someone else would have told you he's better than Lucas, how insane does that sound now?

And Steve Heighway would have said he should be first choice centre half.

How times have changed.

Spearing's probably a lovely lad but he's a championship player. He needs shipping out along with Henderson, Adam and Downing. Shite.

His mistakes led to both goals today, and one early pass apart he wasn't really at the races at all.

You also can add our manager to that list I think. After all, he bought 3 of those 4, and has selected them all season long when there's been better candidates available. I actually still think Adam can contribute as a squad player (if surrounded by the right players), but the other three should not wear the shirt again imo. How Henderson, Downing and Spearing came out onto the pitch after that first half I will never know. Tbf, Enrique should probably have been hooked too, but at least he has shown at times what he can bring us.

Really poor mistakes for both goals, compound by Reinas mistake for the first goal.

He just runs around a lot, but without much efficiency.

I knew we'd miss Lucas, but jesus, not this much!

Terrible from Jay and I fear this will live with him for a longtime.

The lad loves us, but he should not be in the squad. For his own sake also he needs to move on this summer along with quite a few others.

Yeah. It's not for the lack of endeavour, he's just not good enough. Their has been a few times this season were he's just been brushed off the ball too easily. Yesterday, at times, you could have been forgiven for thinking Kenny had given someone from the academy a start. Totally out of his depth.

Thing I notice about him is when he passes the ball in midfield he runs behind opposition players in order to be blocked from receiving the ball. it's pass and hide football. That's our style.

Only lucas and Gerard should be from our midfield. The rest? Fucking shite. Never gonna be anywhere near good enough.

Summed up perfectly there,He is,was and always will be a good championship player,He was woeful yesterday and looked out of his depth,Its not his fault dont get me wrong if we got asked to play for Liverpool in an F.A Cup final then none of us would turn it down but the thing is he should never have been asked to play in it not in a million years and that rests with the management team,to many mistakes this season from the management and yesterday was another one of the mistakes.

Who the fuck said we don't need a new central midfielder?

We need at least two, our midfield is fucking awful.

Fucking hell, the replacement for Comolli had better be boss or we are in deep, deep trouble. You can make a case for 5 positions we seriously need to address (keeper, 3 midfielders and striker) and with back-up that could mean about 7 new players before we can start to dream again.

Spearing is and always has been a squad player, I doubt many would dispute that, and he's a useful one at that. When you ask squad players to play against Chelsea in the FA Cup final, this is what you get. You can't criticize the lad for that.

He gave it a go yesterday, and it did not work out. Happens to all of us. I don't know, we need locals in the team, otherwise it is not Liverpool FC, no identity, just another team. Equally we need excellent players, which Spearing is not. On top of everything, he is played in a wrong position, Spearing is a passer, not a destroyer. Play him higher up, with Lucas alongside him, and I guarantee that he is far more useful than Adam. Better mobility, better passes.

I just feel bad for him for the mistakes and being subbed early in the biggest match of his career. But he got a chance, and he may well get another one in the future, overall he should count himself lucky...

Excuse after excuse after excuse, three years ago he was better than Lucas, now he is better than Henderson (funny how nobody mentions him being played out of position! Seems it is okay to judge him as a right mid), better than Adam, better than Shelvey. Doesn't matter who he is better than, he isn't good enough and we thought him and Adam would be good enough to get us into the Champions league!

He's better than John Welsh, i'll give him that.
