Very nice, Dolan make fantastic bikes, but remember the rules

#26

When photographing your bike, gussy her up properly for the camera. Some parameters are firm: valve stems at 6 o’clock. Cranks never at 90 or 180 degrees. Others are at your discretion, though the accepted practices are include putting the chain on the big dog, and no bidons in the cages.

#30 No frame mounted pumps

For those of you North of the Border (I'm looking at you Champ) next years Etape Caledonia is on May 11th. Its not cheap but it sold out in 3 days last year so if you fancy it then register your interest here to get advance notice of general sale.

Riding closed roads in the Highlands, what could be better?

Hoping to do another long spin this weekend.

Leaving the arse end of Kerry and cycling home. In around 180k. Doing it on my own so hoping nothing goes wrong. Will have the phone with me anyway so should be ok.

Looking forward to it really. Should be a good test.

Weather was atrocious last week on Harris so only got out a couple of times. The Golden Road around the bays on the east coast is bonkers, nearly 40k and the longest bit of flat and straight tarmac was no more than 100 metres. Skoon Cafe about halfway along is recommended.

Hoping for better this week on Skye.

Had a really good ride around a hilly loop in East Lothian yesterday but, boy, is my right shoulder giving me some gyp (sp?) today, presumably from riding out of my saddle on the stiff climbs.

What is the best way of maximising my power, with least damage to my shoulder (the one I broke last year) over these sections?

The best way of maximising power with least damage to your shoulder would be to visit a physio and get your shoulder sorted. Just because the bone has healed doesn't mean the muscle is ok.

It was sore on Wednesday but hardly felt it yesterday and nothing on the ride I've just done, so maybe it was just reacting to the increase of stress put on it. I'm going to see how it goes but will go and see my friendly physio if it deteriorates
