I've watched three seasons in little under a week, after seeing it recommended in one of the many TV threads, and I think it's magnificent; the natural successor to Arrested Development and, already, my third favourite comedy series ever.

 

Ron Swanson is obviously the jewel in the crown; sleep fighting, having his birthday redacted in Government documents, giving a 9 year old a landmine and hiring an assistant to keep the public away from him. Class.

The 1st season is a bit so-so, although I liked it, but the second season really picks up. Stick with it, I'd say.

I was told that the first season was very poor and that it got better. But I thought the first season was hilarious so i cant wait to start on season 2. Just havent got round to it.

One of the best shows on at the moment, love it.

It really does get much better after the first season, definitely worth powering through.

The episode were they all dig up dirt on each other is the funniest so far.

That was a good one, shame it didn't get get more seasons. So often great shows don't get renewed when they really deserve it.

 

It's on netflix, can't remember if it's on instant though it's been a while since I watched it.

This mural was originally entitled "A Lively Fisting." The name was changed for obvious reasons.

 

For a while in the 1880's, most of the law enforcement officials in Pawnee either quit or died of self-inflicted gunshot wounds while drunk. As a result, things were pretty wild. Spontaneous bareknuckle fighting rings spread throughout the town, including this one, in which the Reverend Bradley took on all comers after the Sunday Sermon. Here, the Reverend takes on Anna Beth Stevenson, who had won her previous 11 bouts against the men of the town. The streak came to an end on this punch, though Stevenson won the rematch a week later on a 60-round TKO.

 

At first glance, it is horrifying, but on second glance, it is even more disturbing. One is tempted to assume the fighting woman was a prostitute or thief, when in fact she was Pawnee's first female high school graduate. Girl Power! That's right – 1800s Pawnee let girls go to high school! Trust me, you didn't want to be valedictorian. (Seriously, that is not a joke. Female valedictorians were given mandatory hysterectomies. Yikes!

As amazing as all the characters mentioned in this thread are, my favourite by far is Andy, he's the American version of Ricky from Trailer Park Boys.

Agreed. Some of Swanson's best expressions come in conversation/reacting to Chris. I don't find Ben at all funny, although I've got time for Adam Scott who has a pretty good track record.

I thought Ben not getting the Lil' Sebastian love was pretty good but I agree he's not the funniest. I think his role is to be contrastingly serious to the rest of the cast, so as to emphasise their funniness more maybe?

Yeah, Chris seems to piss off Ron. Like at the wedding when he doesnt bring cake. Or when he doesnt cook Ron steaks. They were really funny moments.
