Banking systems and payments/refund times. Does my head in.

Last night MrsD ordered a KFC for her and KidD. You can order on the app, pay and then let them know when you're 5 minutes away. She did this, money out of her account and then when she let them know she was on her way they just canceled the order. No reason given, probably too busy to accommodate it on a Friday night but just canceled it.

Took the money instantly for goods not rendered. When will they return it? 5 working days. A week in practicality. Where is the fairness for that? How much interest are they going to make off £20 x the hundreds of thousands of suckers waiting for their refund?

Imagine that someones last £20 for food until the next day, or longer. Just took it and a "fuck you"

It's outrageous and needs to be stopped.

Asda piss me off with this, but in reverse, and Paypal now too. You pay for goods, say Petrol or shopping and it doesn't actually take the cash for two full working days. If you dont have an overdraft facility,I havent, then you go into the red and face charges. All they have to do is debit the account straight away and then you cant spend it. But I reckon this is exactly WHY they do it.

Tradesmen are cunts, chapter 36.

Been trying to arrange getting some decking done since February as I knew there'd be demand and a backlog.

Advertised the job on one of these "pitch for a job" builder websites, complete with pictures and measurements.

Four showed interest, came out, two never got back and two did. We went with the pricier quote as we liked the firm.

Ever since it's been dead hard to nail them down for details. They persuaded us to go for a dearer decking which we did, so it upped the cost, but then they went to get it and said was out of stock, wouldn't be in for weeks but we could go with someone else if we wanted. We said no we'd go with the cheaper stuff and go back to the original material (and original, cheaper quote).

It was pencilled in to be done tomorrow.

They make a big deal in their literature and when they came out about "never pay until the job is done and you're happy."

Then today one of the clown posse rings me and says he needs two grand.

I emailed the other business partner (there's two of them and some admin wife) and said how come we had to pay up front and confirming we were on the original quote.

He sends me this big long email saying how much everything is costing and how he's out of pocket on the whole thing. And that the original quote didn't stand as "the goalposts were moved when we changed our order to the dearer decking (even though, erm, the dearer decking was out of stock so we couldn't have it)

Then he says he's happy to cancel and it's always best to shop around anyway.

So I politely emailed back and basically fucked them off. Said it was clear it wasn't a viable project for them so I'd look for someone who's happy to take it on.

He replies "thanks great good luck".

Then 15 minutes later replies back cap in hand saying the materials and joiners were ready to go.

I politely told him to get fucked.

Two months down the pan, when I could have been arranging it with someone else.

Twats all.

Twats is correct. If they don't want the job just says so.

Last year our flat roof conservatory started to leak as the wooden battens supporting the roof had rotted. I called out a local builder who came recommended, he turned up a day later than arranged and started inspecting the conservatory and I got the sense that he wasn't too keen, he told me that he would need to see what it looked like with all the plastic guttering removed so he could work out how much wood would need replacing, I said I would take it all off that day and take photos and send to him. Sound he said, do that and I'll get a quote over and weather permitting he could do it within two weeks.

So I rip off all the guttering, take about a dozen photos and send to him. Nothing, no reply from him, messaged a couple of times and radio silence.

Just say if you don't want the work you tosspot.

They're like kids. When they don't turn up it's always because their dog is sick, or they just go straight to defcon one and say their kid was sick. I can't imagine anyone in any other walk of life spouting that level of obvious shite.

For such a perceived macho line of work, they are the biggest shithouses going.  Being honest about whether you want the job or not should be a module in their NVQ.

I always remember a conversation I had with my mate when I was moaning about builders.

"Why do you want a quote in writing? How the fuck is he going to bump the price up?

"Why are you expecting a website showing examples of works done? They aint going to advertise jobs they haven't paid tax on are they"

"Why are you expecting accurate timescales? How are they meant to down tools and nip off to a better paid job?"

"You want penalty clauses? hahahahahaha"

It's one of nature's cruelest twists that it made the people who're good with their hands immoral morons who've got most of us collectively by the balls.

Imagine one turning up on time and talking like Sir Ian McKellen.

A lad I used to be mates with was a gardener but would also allegedly do landscape work.

I recommended him 3 times to people in work. All of which ended in disaster. First girl I recommended him to wanted new fences and posts as well as her garden returfed, he went out and quoted her £1750 which she was happy to pay. He then kept coming up with excuses why he couldn't travel from Waterloo to Gateacre on the specific dates she wanted because he has a set of established clients who will fuck him off if they don't get their gardens done on a specific day. He even says he has to work New Year's Day. Who the fuck is arsed about getting their lawn done in January never mind new years day?. In the end she fucked him off.

Second woman wanted her garden returning and he turned his nose up at another job over £1000 because she didn't live in Waterloo.

I'd recommended him.a while.back to the fella who sits next to me in work and he wanted a yard clearance, turfing and decking built. Again he messed him around and I heard him shouting down the phone at him telling him to forget the job as he had waited in on 3 separate occasions.

He still somehow manages to earn almost 60 grand a year cash in hand and pays about 900 quid tax a year.

When the taxman finds out he will face his own Waterloo.

Went to buy my train ticket this morning and the machine at Lime St just froze on 'processing'. Checked my account and it had taken the money. 2 minutes stood there, nothing so I go into the ticket office and ask the fella behind the desk. Instantly on the defensive

"They're nothing to do with us mate"

"Well it's got Northern written above it and you've got Northern on your t-shirt?"

"Yeah but we have no control over them"

"Ok well how am I supposed to get my tickets?"

"It will automatically refund"

"I've just checked and it hasn't"

"Yeah it will take a while"

"Ok well can you give me a replacement ticket in the meantime? My train leaves in 10 minutes"

"It's not my problem mate you'll have to buy another one"

So I just say argh forget it and walk back to the machines. he follows me out "Don't be having a go at us, these machines have taken our jobs" So I empathise and say "but still, I'm out of pocket imagine if I only had enough just for the one ticket I'd be late because of this"

"Do you want me to get my supervisor?"

"Yeah ok go on"

Paul comes out, late 50's maybe early 60's big tall lurch looking fucker "This fellas kicking off about the machines"

"Woah, I wasn't kicking off you just got your back up because I asked you a question you didn't have the answer to"

So Lurch starts "Listen we don't have any control over the machines, they will automatically refund"

I reply with "I get the train Monday to Friday, they are rarely on-time and some barely even run yet you charge us through the roof and when there is an issue that's YOUR fault your customer service is shite, now I'm going to be late her because your machine has decided to malfunction can you not give me a replacement ticket?"

"No, you'll have to wait for your refund"

"How long will that take?"

"It depends on your bank"

"Get fucked"

Walked out and had to get another ticket, checked my account and they've taken the payment 3 times. Fucking cunts. The first one the baldy shouldn't be working with people full stop. Horrible ignorant defensive prick.

No fucking wonder the worlds depressed and the dogs are crying. Fuck all works, everything is geared towards greed and hardly anybody has the slightest capacity let alone desire to help anyone else.

Should have kicked off mate

Had a train to catch mate or I'd have kicked off more. Started typing out a complaint email when I got in but what's the point. It will only wind me up when they reply with "Not our problem"
