Some help needed. Commercial kitchen equipment.

SWMBO has suggested that I try the mighty GF as, in her words, TLW will have someone who will probably be able to help

Does anyone have experience of reputable suppliers for commerical kitchen kit - high volume sinks, cookers and whatever else would be needed? She is thinking of starting a some form of business which I will no doubt be underwriting the cost of.

Rep on its way for help provided.

The catering shop on Smithdown Road by the railway bridge will sort you out.

Good Rumpole referencing.

Been there for fucking years that, remember seeing it on the way to school and wondering how they made any money. Obviously they do, probably quite a lot.

Take a look at your local auction houses. Catering is a high risk business...in Sydney around 90% of businesses in this field will fail within 12 months. When they fail the equipment often goes to auction and it's often in good condition and a fraction of the cost of new stuff.

I started a cafe a few years ago. I worked 12 hours a day for 2 years, 7 days a week for much less than I could have earned working for someone else. It eventually paid off for me when I sold the business, but the new owners were broke within 6 months.

I'm not trying to piss on your chips here. It can be a very rewarding business to be in financially and personally but it's essential to have a proper business plan just to survive.

Thanks Steve. Have some rep.

As for the business plan have no worries. I will be take a very long and hard look at it before I sink money into anything physical.

Yes.
Are you looking for benches, worktables etc.? Definitely buy second hand. The cost of new stuff will astonish you, and not in a nice way.

Commercial fridges are about the only major item I'd buy new.
