This in not correct. Being fat is a bad thing. Being black is not. (I'm always amazed by the number of people who struggle to understand that. It's not hard!) If I meet a mate down the pub I may give him some shit about how fat he is now hes reaching his late 30's. I would not give a person some shit about how black they still are.

You've made that judgement upon another. It's not for you to make. Also who ever said having a different skin colour is a bad thing?

Exactly the same as I think about fat and ugly white people. Thats the point! Calling someone fat is an insult. Calling someone ugly is an insult. Calling someone black isnt.

Going by your argument a good portion of shouts deemed to be racist should be ignored? That lad from a certain game the other night (if proved to be true) was perfectly legit (if Adeyemi is indeed of questionable parentage?) in calling him a Black bastard? No it's not ok and it's not acceptable.

It was put in the initial argument you disagreed with like this...

It's not OK to call someone a fat bastard, ginger bastard, etc. Learn some manners.

Referring to the colour of a person's skin in order to describe them isn't (or shouldn't be) any more offensive than referring to their hair, height, weight, age or whatever.

Using their colour as part of an insult is, obviously, very racist and very offensive.

(I'm always amazed by the number of people who struggle to understand that. It's not hard!)

I reckon it can probably be counted on two hands how many times i've insulted people on here, rudely not those in jest. I don't think i've ever or will ever point out in a description of somebody as that 'fat black/white/brown ugly bastard' over there. In fact even typing it out doesn't sit well with me, but hey, maybe it's just too many negative adjectives in one description.

And yet you have made it quite clear on numerous occasions that you want Pepe's chorizo because he's fit. Double standards.

I've actually bit my tongue to avoid going porn level vulgar to that. Needless to say eating sausage all day given the option would definitely be taken.

Referring to somebody's or some group's colour or ethnicity in a purely descriptive manner is OK, but it depends entirely on the context. I find it ridiculous how the PC brigade and the UK media have almost made it taboo to use it just for descriptive purposes with no hostility or hatred attached. The insinuation recently seems to be that if you use colour or ethnicity to refer to someone or something in any context, it is automatically racist. It's not.

Making reference to colour or ethnicity when trading insults is a definite no-no. If you're going to insult someone by calling them a cunt for example (they might genuinely have deserved that insult), there's no need to add a reference to that person's colour or ethnicity. They are a cunt on account of how they've behaved towards you or because of something they did or didn't do or say, and none of that has anything to do with their skin colour or ethnicity.

I'd say that sums it up.

It`s impossible for a white person to comprehend the horror that is racism.

Unless you`ve lived it you`ve no idea.

Horror my arse. It's a form of bullying that any victim of bullying could relate to.

I genuinely think that women still get a worse deal than blacks, but of course, they deserve it more.

Still, you don't hear them complaining about it, do you?....oh wait...

This whole LFC v MUFC racism thing has, for me, belittled the cause of Real Racism, in that what happens on a f**tball field is really just name calling in various forms rather than actual discrimination.

What I'd like to know is whether a black man would take more offense if a white man came up to him and said 'you black cunt' or if he said 'your mother's a fucking aids ridden whore'?

Both are abusive, both are offensive, but one is allowed in the PL and one isn't.

OK so one clearly uses race as the means to direct the abuse, so we dont like racism so we ban players for saying that, but if one takes equal or more offense over having their mothers being called whores then why are we stopping at racism? Why not ban all players for calling anyone abusive names?

Why not?

Because it would be fucking ridiculous thats why

So where are they going to draw the line and why?

'Now chaps calling each others 'tossers' is alright, but please refrain from calling each others mothers' aids ridden whores, as that simply will not do'

stupid bastards

Lots of talk about race and racism in the news these days, and I'm coming to realise that actually, I don't give that much of a fuck about it. Sorry and all that.

Don't get me wrong, I find it unsavoury, but I'd be lying if I said I get all outraged about it. For me, casual racism is in the same category as any pretty much any other general rudeness or ignorance I witness.

I know I should probably feel stronger about it, but I don't. Actually, I think I may only feel that I should feel stronger about it, because people say I should be outraged about it. I'm not though. Maybe because I'm white and lack empathy, or maybe I'm a bit of a cunt, or maybe even a racist cunt. Don't know, don't care. It just doesn't really make me angry at all. In fact, the whole subject of racism in modern britain I'm starting to find a little bit boring.

Subliminal message

On a more serious note, being Indian, it does my head in being called a Paki, you learn to deal with it as you get older but in my youth as soon as that word was mentioned I'd go nuts.

Just recently I was having a heated argument because some white van man twat cut me up and I could tell from him face what he was thinking and just knew he was dying to throw in a couple of racist insults but managed to control himself the knob. No doubt over a pint later that evening with his mates he'll have told the story with the words he wanted to use..... "Coming over here, they should stick to rickshaws the cunts...."

I doesn’t effect me as much now and I don't have a problem sleeping at night but I do find it fucking sad that someone has to bring a person's colour into an argument.

He didn't bring race into it. You did. Proves my point really. It's more in the mind of the supposed victims.

Sorry black and Asian types but racism as it used to be doesn't really exist in any significant way these days. You're going to have to find something different to blame for your failures.

Maybe it is in the genes after all...

Exactly what i was trying to say earlier, only put a lot more eloquently.

It's impossible to tell who is taking the piss, and who is genuinely retarded

And who is a piss-taking retard ?

That's fair comment. The problem is a lot of people are too thick to be able to differentiate perpretators and victims alike. So a blanket ban is easier.

No, you're right it doesn't. That's why there is a plethora of people from ethnic minorities in positions of influence in the country. That's why there are no race hate crimes. That's why parties like the BNP don't exist anymore.

Oh wait...

Racism still exists, only it is just more subtle because the law is much stronger against it.

On the issue of whether you can describe people as 'black', I haven't ever met a single black person who minds that description if it is used in an inoffensive context i.e 'He's standing next to the black guy over there.'. However, if the word 'black' is followed by the word 'bastard' then it is obviously meant with negative conotations and is therefore fuelled by racism.

Noos, you made comment earlier on the fact I only had 450 posts to my name. Pardon me for having a life and not having the time to be on here racking up my post count to impress you. I'll divorce my wife immediately so I can free up more time to have rough and tumble with you.

Quite right. Just because someone keeps their mouth shut because they don't want to get arrested doesn't mean they are not racist. Though I would've thought that was pretty obvious. In fact, I would have thought that every point you raise is pretty obvious but after reading some of the drivel in here it appears that it is not.

There's been some very well constructed posts on here, can someone however answer me this:

I had the miss fortune to watch 'Take me out' the other night.

On this show, on 3 occasions the women rejected a date on the 'island of Fernando's' (Tenerife) with a ginger guy because 'i don't do/ like ginger people' or 'eewww ginger people'.

Now this was broadcast prime time on ITV, if the word 'black' was substituted for 'ginger' would it have even been broadcast ?

Is this not a form of (socially acceptable) racism ?

Don't get me wrong I call my ginger mate 'Fox piss' all the time, i just think there is an astonishing level of irony here.
