My PS3 can't obtain an IP address HELP!!!

I've recently moved house and I'm trying to connect my PS3 up to a new router but I keep getting a "cannot obtain IP address" message.

 

I've restarted the router, disabled the media streaming but not got anywhere.

 

The orange light on my PS3 doesn't flash when it looks for the IP address but the system can recognise the router that I want to use.

 

Any ideas?

If you're able to, hook it up on a wired connection and make sure that it can obtain the IP address that way.

 

What else have you got connected to the router via WiFi?

Yes, you'd need an ethernet cable, mate.

 

If you haven't got an ethernet cable, you could trying using the custom setup option when creating the wireless connection, rather than using the default, easy, option.

Yeah there's no issues with the laptops

Well, if you've got an ethernet cable floating around, I'd give that a bash.

Haven't got one at the moment but I'll ask around and see how that goes

I'm stuck in work, which is a pain, as I can't access the Playstation forums to have a look around, plus I can't just sit in front of my PS3 and run through the options...

 

Have you had a browse around the offal Playstation forum(s)?

From experience... I've always had to set up a PS3 with an ethernet cable first (for some unknown reason). It should work fine wirelessly after that.
