My mums, husbands, son made a marmite cake a while back. It was odd but not horrible, think he just needs to reduce the amount of marmite in the recipe not because of the taste but it was really heavy and dense.

It was more than a tablespoon and was meant to be a sponge but it just didn't work properly.

I could have been persuaded by a Marmite scone but the sponge idea makes me feel a bit queezy (sp?)

No, it sounds revolting. But then so did peanut butter and marmite and that's fucking lovely. You can't knock it until you try it.

Fucking love marmite, how do folks feel about vegemite though? Working from home tomorrow and I think egg and vegemite on toast is called for.

 

Just to be clear I have no opinions of mar vs vegi-mite. I just happen to have a jar of vegemite I picked up recently.

I recommend cheese and Marmite on crumpets without the crumpets for you Rem.

Tin of heinze ravioli in a bowl, large squirt of marmite, a few shakes of Worcester sauce and stir. Top bowl with some grated mature cheddar and top with a drizzle squirt of marmite and microwave for 5 minutes. Perfect.

Now, I think either position is acceptable. This isn't a pro-bean/anti-bean type thing, where anti-bean bastards are in the wrong. I hate it, but most of my family love it. My contention is that more people dislike it than like it. What say you?

I used to hate it until about 2 years ago when I had a road to Damascus moment and my tastebuds finally wised up to the awesomeness that is Marmite

I'm middle of the road sometimes I'm in the mood othertimes not.

 

It is meant to be good for warding off highland midges though, I found coating myself in carcongenic DEET was more effective.
