Whatever happens here it isn't going to look good. Either the BCCI get their way and the impression (rightly so in many cases) that they rule the game gets more evidence. Or the match referee decides England get the win. The match referee being the dad of one of the England players.

The IPL is worth 300m to the BCCI.

I fucking hate this shit. Fuck the IPL. Fuck the Hundred. Just fuck off.

BBC cricket correspondent Jonathan Agnew

This is quite bizarre because last night the players all passed their PCR tests. We went to bed thinking the match would go ahead.

I suspect the IPL would have a lot to do with this. It starts in 10 days' time. The players are on huge contacts. The IPL is worth £300m to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

They are desperate to protect their product and the players protect their contracts. This stands to cost the ECB £20m, one assumes there would be some negotiations about that with the BCCI.

It is a shame Covid has interfered with a brilliant series.

India have failed to fulfil the fixture when they were clearly able to.

There can only be one result.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) says it has made an offer to the ECB to reschedule the match.

"In lieu of the strong relationship between BCCI and ECB, the BCCI has offered to ECB a rescheduling of the cancelled Test match," said a BCCI statement. "Both the Boards will work towards finding a window to reschedule this Test match.

"The BCCI and ECB held several rounds of discussion to find a way to play the Test match, however, the outbreak of Covid-19 in the Indian team contingent forced the decision of calling off the Old Trafford Test match.

"The BCCI has always maintained that the safety and well-being of the players is of paramount importance and there will be no comprise on that aspect."

Fucking cunts all round.

We got a school team together in cricket ( De La Salle ) with no real teacher involvement and sourced our own equipment.

We did ok against a few similar level schools and then somehow arranged a game against St Marys in Crosby. We played a timed game against them and they rattled up 190 or so for 3 ( I think all three dismissed batsmen were called Nigel ). We were soon 8 for 6 and spent the next hour wasting as much time as possible changing gloves etc. We managed to scramble to the 2pm finish at 15 for 9 to claim an improbable draw. They were fucking spewing about it and it nearly all went off after the game.

Did your lot field with all their batting equipment on too?

Ha ha , no , they had 2 or 3 age group county players while one of our players was partially-sighted and only originally there to go for a drink afterwards and another lad , also there for the apres-game , admitted he had never actually ever watched a cricket game in his life. They were the actual last two batsmen who saw out the last over while one had his eyes closed and the other didn't need to.
