In the Louis Theroux documentary he has a kitchen cupboard full of booze and at one point I'm fairly sure he drinks a pint of Guinness. Of course he denied being a paedophile too, so perhaps we should just take him at his word.

 

I should have made it clear that she accused a DIFFERENT celebrity of groping her while in the dressing room with savile and glitter. The quotes on tv tonight refer to that person (the 3rd man) smelling of alcohol. The celebrity doesn't drink, never has. Famously is known that he has never drunk.

Cheers for the clarification. Savile did always claim to be a teetotaller by the way, but after watching that Theroux documentary the other day, I don't think I believe him.

I knew that, probably why there was the slight confusion there. I watched the Theroux documentary last week after eventually getting to the end of the long threads on digital spy. I don't think this judge led review will find anything less than we all think. Could be a few surprises too.

Jimmy Savile's victims are launching compensation claims for millions of pounds, it emerged last night.

They are to sue the BBC, NHS and the education authorities for failing to prevent the sexual predator and accomplices carrying out attacks over decades.

The numbers coming forward have risen in recent days as victims become more confident about taking legal action after Scotland Yard branded Savile one of Britain’s worst sex offenders. Twelve claims for damages are being considered so far.

It is. It's been reported on by several media outlets, and was mentioned by Savil himself in a TV documentary, as it had been widely rumoured for years.

Missed that. Sounds like a good listen. I know that I am reading my post with my 'work head' on but I think it is some time since Saville was 'in his pomp' and is not an excuse for that many people not to speak out

He said the same things on the Panorama special last night.

 

It wasn't just bent coppers but also minor members of the Royal family amongst others. I'm guessing that if they tried to bring Saville down whilst he was still alive that a lot of people in authority would have copped for it. Hopefully they still will, but you just know that many will be protected and the odd few will be used as escape goats.

Don’t know about necrophilia but the rumours about his unhealthy interest in underage girls have been around for donkey’s years. I heard them in the 80s from someone who was working as a production assistant at the BBC at the time. Also a colleague of mine used to go out with a girl who worked at Broadmoor. She said the staff there were told never to leave him alone with a patient for the same reasons. It seems like a lot of people knew about this and, rather than confront him, just chose to make sure he didn’t have to opportunity to abuse anyone they were responsible for.

 

But this certainly wasn’t some sort of dark secret only known by a few showbiz insiders, thousands must have heard about it. And what I can’t work out is why he wasn’t nailed by the tabloids. I don’t believe all this “what about his charity work” bollocks. Since when have tabloid editors in this country passed on a juicy circulation boosting scandal? It’s all very odd, it seems like a fair few people will be answering some very uncomfortable questions when these inquiries go ahead.

Paul O'Grady was a social worker at a home in the 1970s. He was asked about Saville and said he had visited the home. O'Grady reported that the staff were told that if Saville visited the girls section he was not to be left unescorted. He assumed that this came from Savilles people to protect the latter from false accusations. Somewhat rich.

 

Gambaccini comes out of this with no credit. He claims he knew etc and did nothing. He claims all knew that Saville was a paedophile. And he did nothing.

Well it is not surprising people are saying stuff about Peel.
