Ultimate birthdate & team to support

Following on from Malarkey's comment on the 'objective' thread about how lucky us older fans were to have seen the greats, it reminded me of a conversation I had with a mate some time ago.

If you had a time-machine and could choose a date of birth & team to support, What would be the ultimate combination ?

I was born an LFC fan in 1960 and wouldn't change that ( possibly be born a little earlier as I was a bit young for the 1964 league, 1965 FA Cup & earliest European adventures )

My mate plumped for 1940 in Madrid and a Real Madrid fan & while I can see where he is coming from, I queried whether it was a purely football argument as in his ideal scenario he would have had to live under Franco for 30-odd years.

What would your perfect combo be ?

I don't think beginning to support Liverpool just before Shankly arrived and watching us through the glory years would be an experience any other club in the world could rival. I'm gutted I wasn't around for the Shankly years, which seems a bit selfish maybe as anyone around my age was really spoiled with Bob, Joe and Kenny's time in charge.
