Evra accuses Suarez of racism

Lads lets not get to carried away here. And more importantly lets be honest. Suarez has been around long enough to know asking ‘why, negro?’ was goning to be taken as offensive and as a racist insult in this league. He is not stupid. We knew signing him that he has a bit of a dark side and his disciplinary record wasn't the greatest, so although the 8 match is severe it was always on the cards.

Thin line between honesty and stupidity, as you've just proven.

All im saying is that if he used the term he admits to using who in their right mind thought he would get away with it in this league, regardless of what context he claims to have made it in. He is an international star and should have known the consequences of his remark.

Do you know what is considered offensive in Spain, France, Italy, Germany, or Austria?

Not what their laws are, what is linguistically considered offensive.

We still dont know what he said.

What we do know is that both Evra and the FA have said they do not believe Suarez to be racist. And he's got done for 8 games for abusive language. It's fucking ridiculous, it shouldnt have been on the cards at all.

Exactly not for being a racist, which I dont believe him to be, but he was foolish.

Just waiting to hear the FA announce evra being charged after admitting his comments against Suarez. Should be later today.

(as 'fucking' if)

Aye. Dont hold your breath or you'll suffocate!

The bigger questions should be;

why isnt evra being charge for calling Suarez 'south american' which was clearly meant in derogatory terms

why isnt evra being charged after saying to marriner 'you're only booking me cos iz black?'

why isnt evra being charge for being a cunt?

He obviously said something which reflected on Evras racial background. That is why the charge was worded in such a way as to be so vague and open-ended it would have been impossible not to find him guilty. I said as much many, many pages back.

In hindsight, I think the panel found him guilty very quickly and all this time was spent contemplating the length of ban.

Basically he has been found guilty of misconduct by way of abusive language with a racial element. IMO the 8 game ban is not proportionate to the charge.

Until the transcript/findings are published its all speculation

If the ban runs it time, who would of guest the ban would run to include the United game! the United game being the last game of him ban? coincidence? Plus there as never been given higher ban ever... for an on-field incident!

Yet, people still think there isn't an smear campaign against Suarez!

In response to evra calling him 'south american' Suarez said '?porque negrito?'

Clearly, evra was refering to Suarez's origins yet appeared ignorant that in South america, 'negrito' is not used as a racist term.

Quite simple really. My point is that the statement you have made is rather stupid, as people do not know what is culturally sensitive, particularly when they have not been in a situation in which such issues have arisen.

Or do you think this is the first time he has ever used this phrase towards a black player?

It is also worth noting that he arrived at the end of January, did not speak the language, left just under 4 months later to return to South America for the Copa America, eventually returning in September, so prior to the match with United he has spent less than six months in this country, less than six months learning the cultural nuances of this country, and six months learning the cultural norms of this country!

So explain please how he 'should have known' what the consequences of him using Negro/Negrita would have been?

A likely FA Cup game (provided we get past Oldham) would mean he would be back for the scum game.

Apparently he called him; Sudaca

Noun

sudaca m and f (plural sudacas)

(offensive, derogatory, vulgar, slang) Latin American

[edit]Usage notes

A Spanish colloquial term used most typically in Spain to denote people from Latin America in a derogatory or pejorative way. The term is associated with immigrants from Latin America with Amerindian physical features and who speak with accented Spanish of varied origins and is believed to have originated during the popular Movida madrileña (Madrid Movement) in the 1980s as a result of Latin American Immigration. Due to the rapid influx of Latin American immigrants to Spain from the early 1990s to present, the word has evolved into a common, yet highly offensive ethnic slur.

Seriously, you think we should accept an 8 game ban for abusive language? So how come plenty of players tell refs to 'fuck off' yet dont even get booked!?

If you cant see the correlation there then you're a WUM.

OK, let's take this post/opinion of yours at pure face value...

why negro? = 8 match ban

Even if it were as simple as this... which of course it isn't... maybe, just maybe, our esteemed FA might also be accused of getting "carried away", not just Liverpool supporters.
