While you might not be in the best situation you can be it could be a hell of a lot worse. You're at a point where you have options.

I'm back at home too and will be 32 in Janaury. It isn't ideal but realistically it's the best I can do at the moment as realistically I just can't afford to rent on my own and I certainly can not get a mortgage. On the other hand I'm debt free everything I own is mine, bought and paid for. Bit difficult trying to tap mind "fancy coming back to my mums?" there is a lass at work I really like but quite frankly I reckon trying to get anywhere is a nonsense as no one is going to be impressed by that. However the fact my life is relatively easy going now is certainly worth a lot to me. Probably more free than I have been since I was in my teens.

As everyone else has said get yourself some training. Even if it doesn't pay off it gets you doing something and shows you are willing to get of your arse and do something. 4 GCSEs isn't going to do much at the moment as it is very much an employers market at the moment.

I've been doing courses of and on over the last few years to help with trying to get my own business running (well running better anyway) such as CAD and CNC related work. Once I got over the whole thing of being older than most people there and get used to the young whipper snappers it was good fun and useful. Currently I'm working part time in the Public Sector and actually looking at trying to get into college during the day with the view to maybe doing an Open University degree in the next couple of years as well.

Non of it is guaranteed to get things changed for you but if nothing else it gives you something to work towards and some kind of point to try and get to.

Got to love the GF. Drive to work have quick look on phone to see what's occurring on the forum and suddenly I have a poll. Not that kind you dirty bastards!!

On your way to work hey?

The poll is pretty conclusive, you have to ask her tonight and then inform us so we can either mock and jeer or slap you on the back and say 'smash 'er lad!

It's the law or something.

Some girls really go for the massively shy coward who lives with his Mum in his thirties and works part-time in the public sector-type.

Silverlining, behave.

To be fair I found that pretty amusing.

Was in car park at work when I posted. Haven't seen her tonight, she works in a different office to me. However the GF has spoken and who am I to argue? I shall endeavour not to be a shithouse and bottle it next time I see her.

Where do you work and what's she called?

You live up here don't you? We supposedly aren't meant to say who we work for. Work near Four Lane Ends.

Oh yeah, don't tell her you took the advice of your internet 'friends' that might freak her the fuck out.

Say the voices in your head told you to do it, that'll work.

Good point, well made. Far better for her to think I listen to voices in my head, wouldn't want people thinking I listen to you lot.

This one is easy. You make the whole 'at home' situation work for you. You tell her that the house is yours, and that your mum is slowly slipping into alzheimer's. You've moved her in with you so that you can look after her as she becomes more forgetful, and you've dotted the house with her belongings to keep her remembering for as long as possible. She'll love how awesome and caring you are.

This.

*unless alzeimers is hereditary, in which case you might have some extra bullshitting to do, like that you were adopted.

I actually thought about manufacturing a budget line of cheap coffins. Recession proof and people are looking to cut costs.

What you need is a Jobs style marketing genius. I've repackaged your idea as:

Carbon Deathprint

Eco-Funerals - Mass Graves - Cheap Burials

This time next year, we could be literally tens of pounds better off.

CNC you say?

You're trainng to be a rock-hard gun-toting motherfucka for the government? forget her, by the time you've earned your pips you'll be fighting off dangerfucks with all three mutant arms!

Street Preacher - if you're good at what you do look to setting up on your own. I dunno what your area is but if it's specialised you stand a decent chance of using your experience for the better, i.e; yourself and not your wage-slave bosses - don;t ever think what you've done is worthless - people will pay good money for your experience.

Failing that, move along the chain into strategic, sustainable, retail logistics. Believe me, this is starting to be massive right now and will be for years to come.

Edit: The clue is in bold.
