Paul McCartney. Is he a tit?

Macca's great, can't wait to see that even if it will only be on the telly.

A mate in work was moaning about it today though, saying he's too old and not relevant any more etc. I'd have listened and considered what he was saying if he hadn't been to see Pink in the summer.

What a load of bollocks. The Beatles will always be relevant.

For the 50 year anniversary he is the most relevant person on the planet to play it.

There’s a good discussion to be had about the most talented popular music writers of our lifetime. For me the top 5 is

Paul McCartney

David Bowie

Paul Simon

Bob Dylan

Leonard Cohen

not sure about the order though.

Well that's a controversial question. top 10 definitely but not sure who he would displace from the top 5. Possibly Leonard Cohen but for me its debateable.. Other opinions are equally valid of course.

Prince should be in any top 5.  I suppose it's all personal opinion but his output and influence over the past 30 years is phenomenal.

What was said about artists and their outstanding contribution to music in the Pet Shop Boys v Cream, McCartney probably has done most over the years, great voice and bass player.

Don't know about the thumbs up all the time or the peace sign, though I think that's Ringo.

Bacharach/David and Goffin/King ought to be there or thereabouts.
