On the Socialist thing didn't Billy Bragg smack their arses about them demanding their own toilet at Glastonbury or something? Can't remember the details.

Here's a scan of the offending article for anyone who's arsed...

As with any band that's been knocking around for twenty-odd years the Manics have also produced some B-sides of genuine quality. A couple of gems from the periods immediately before and after Richey's disappearance (their best time imo):

Amazing the difference in sound a non-guitar playing guitarist makes.

Haha! They're not proper socialists because they want a decent shitter backstage? Catch yourself on Elizabeth.

When it comes to toilets I must be the biggest Tory going then. I will not shit in a public bog unless it's nicer than my home shitter (so that's nearly every shitter in a half decent bar/restaurant in the continental United States).

Saw the last night on the field right by mine in Southsea. They were fucking brilliant, I reckon they have gotten better with age as well. I was stood chatting with two birds, both hot and one was really tall. I was in with either of them to be fair but during 'if you tolerate this' I threw my arm up and smacked the empire state building right in the nose. I over did the apologies and they just fucked off. Travis and The Coral on before the manics as well, The Coral are still class.  Didn't even pay to get in, I just strolled through and no-one even looked at me. Noel Gallagher headlining later, Space and Echo and the Bunnymen playing as well. Can't fucking wait.

They've written their second song about Hillsborough, god bless them. S.Y.M.M was a brave enough stab, but the lyrics to "Liverpool Revisited" are superb...

As I wake to a sunset
The light dances on the Mersey
And I think of the 96
As the tears fall down on me
And there is courage
There is pride
You can see it in your eyes
Fight for justice fight for life
There are angels in these skies

As the night falls around me
I see joy and devotion
These times will never leave
Like the rain on the ocean
There is dignity and pride
There is poetry and life
There are ghosts within these stones
There's defiance in these bones

And all the hatred they tried to throw at you
But you stayed so strong
Yeah all the hatred it never was the truth
So keep keeping on
This is forever
We'll never leave you now
This is forever
We'll never leave you now

Every album has got worse since Richie went missing.

I’ll listen to the new one, there will a couple I won’t mind on it. The rest will be filler & having me wishing for the days of Star Lover, New Age Riot & Judge Yourself.

Same. First three albums were great. Etmg was okay as it just felt good to have them back. Very hit and miss after that. Still listen out for them though.

Personally i thought Futurology was absolutely brilliant, and that was the first i'd heard in full since This is my Truth....

I'm not a fan at all of Gold Against The Soul, far too much like polished US rock. The first album is patchy as well. The Holy Bible and Everything Must Go are their best albums by a long chalk. Futurology not that far behind.

I do think they are a class act as human beings though.
