Don't do it mate.

Some of those films could only be made in the 80's for one reason and one reason only, cheese sells. Went and watched American Ninja last year. Thought it was the dogs bollocks when I was a kid. What a steaming pile of shit that film is now!

I love this thread.

I used to get this van in my area that would rent dodgy pirate vhs films for 50p. I couldn't get really be expected to ask for the porn at that age, so he let me have whatever horror i could stomach.

Managed to watch Evil Dead, Rabid Grannies, Demons and lots more Italian horror masterpieces than i care to remember by the age of 13.

I think he got caught so i went to the local shop and ended up having to watch shit like 'the burbs' and 'k-9' (they're ok films not totally shit).

What i really like about 80's films was the introduction of special effects and taking them to their absolute limits at the time.

I believe that Star Wars and Alien in the late 70's contributed towards a kickstart for sci-fi in the 80's.

With the 80's being an affluent period for most, it seemed to me that film directors didn't seem to plan to any budget, whereas these days a director does not necessarily have free license to do what he wants.

I would also like to add that there never seemed to be a shortage of childrens films when i was young, these days your lucky if there's one new kid film per week and it has to be in fucking 3d?

Great thread.

One of my favourite 80s movies, completely underrated and inspiration for my sweet avatar:

One of the best scenes, Bill's face at the end of the march makes me do a lol every time...

Army training Sir!

As a rule, anything with Bill Murray in is ace.

I enjoyed Days of Thunder back in the day as well.

There was this one comedy teen flick about a nerdy guy in highschool or something that gains telekinetic powers from drinking some sort of juice, cant remember the name of that one, but it was really good.
