Saw Bobby at the Philharmonic not long before he died. Really good gig despite being not very well. Had to be held up at one point but the voice was still there.

Across 110th street was stunning.

Reckon he saw his fair share of partying did Bobby.

Saw him on some programme yonks and yonks ago talking about Sam Cooke and he looked and sounded like the coolest man on the planet. I decided there and then to buy everything I saw of his name.

Saw him many many years later working with Damon Albarn just before his death and he still looked and sounded like the coolest man on the planet.

Saw Bobby at the California Ballroom in Dunstable circa 1975. He was barely heard of in this country then. Brilliant gig. He became one of the greatest ever.

Guessing it was 2013 when I saw him, he performed the last part of the show backstage as he was fucked.

California Ballroom sounds very upmarket.

California Ballroom sounds very upmarket.

It was a big dance hall. Sweat used to drip off the ceiling and walls on some gigs. All gone now, made way for the usual Barrett type development.

Dont know how to put the link in but Denise Lasalle  "Trapped by this thing called love" is brilliant. First heard it when I was a kid working down in Poole loved it ever since.

Done it for you mate. Nice song this.

I know I missed the age thing in the golf thread but these lads are in their mid 70's. Some near 80 - and killing it.

Brilliant session that,  those guys put it on the line. Really enjoyed the Darryl's House sessions.

And of course the follow up " I Could Never Love another after loving you" so so good.
