So how come the Liverpool coaches don't know this?

Perhaps they have weighed all the factors, including what you are saying, and have concluded playing time is better for him, as training, even with a better quality better, is still only training and can't match the intensity of a proper game.

I dont know, you have to ask them.

How many players have really improved after a loan spell in the Championship?

Let them go abroad to learn another style of football and mature that way or get them to low tier PL club where at least the opposition will be good every week.

To loan players to mid table Championship clubs for individual development, thats just ridiculous.

What will they gain from it, you develop by playing with better players, and considering Shelvey has got as much playing time he has with us you would hope that was not the case for him going to Blackpool in their current state.

No.

and actually develop its always better to play with better players something he would do every day in training with us.At Blackpool he will not really be up against any quality players either so that will not really do anything for him either.

Wilshere loaned to Bolton at age 19

Beckham loaned to Preston at age 19

Aaron Ramsey loaned to Cardiff and Nott'm Forest age 19

Kyle Walker loaned to QPR age 20

Why is it a good move?

You would think if he was good enough to get as much playing time he got for us last season, the only option should be a loan to a Premier League club.

He will not improve much in the Championship if anything at all.

No.

Its probably a good move for Shelvey himself as the Championship is about his level.

When it comes to his development as a player I doubt it will make him any good as he will be pretty average and not stand out in any game, the players surrounding him will be of average quality as well and to blossom and actually develop its always better to play with better players something he would do every day in training with us.

Wishere: to a PL club.

Beckham: back in 1960, wow what a great argument.

Ramsey: I`m sure the 5 games at Forrest and 6 games at Cardiff had a huge impact on his debvelopment, talk about being absurd.

Walker: after his loan spell at Villa, a PL club he finally was able to get his breakthrough at Spurs.

The Cleverly who went to Wigan in the PL you mean.

Stop wasting my time.

You are refuting a player's potential or ability to improve after being loaned to a Championship club. Cleverly (and PLENTY of others) clearly benefited and improved by being loaned to a Championship club. Playing in the PL in his next season is pretty damning evidence of this.

Rocket science, it ain't.

Martin Kelly

Kelly was loaned out a couple of months before he returned in the summer, he did not really break into the first team one year later.

Another bad example.

I`m not saying its a bad idea to loan players out for a couple of months, but to release them for one year in the age they are supposed to really develop is more than debatable.

The Championship is Shelveys level though so in reality I have no problem with it but how people can say its a good move for us is what I have a problem with.

How good does he need to be in the Championship for us to be of any use of him later, you would think he really needs to be a stand out player. if not why not just bring any average Championship player into our squad?

Out of 3 loan options availible I`d say the championship is the least favourable option.

He's gone till January. So you're in agreement then, this is a good move.
