The Walking Dead Thread (spoilers and zombies inside)

The budget has been slashed.

I will admit that nothing seemed to happen in the last episode I watched, apart from the zombie in the well, but the whole point of the comics is that you do get an in-depth and often slow-moving portrait of what life would be like after a zombie apocalypse. Often there's hardly any zombies in the grahpic novels at all, and most of the story (violence) is human on human.

It can't be like a 13 hour version of Dawn Of The Dead, that wouldn't work and would be pointless.

A good friend of mine made the same argument. That it's more of a drama than anything else. Not a running weekly battle with zombies, Ala Dawn of the Dead.

That "The Walking Dead" are actually the survivors, not the zombies.

Why did she go outside to piss and do the pregnancy test in the dark? Could have just gone the toilet in the house where there's no danger of zombies. Stupid that. I was wanting her to get attacked and bitten.

Thought the last five minutes of the last episode was excellent, hope it finally kicks in when it returns in February.

That's been the best part all season. Completely caught me off guard. Would never have guessed that was about to happen, not until it started.

Shane is a tosser.

Second series starts back up on FX tonight at 10

Yep, waiting for it to come on. Hope its better than the load of bollocks the 2nd series has been so far.

The bloated zombie in the well was 'well' funny. The end was so predictable with the daughter coming out the barn.

That ending was fucking stone cold stuff. Didn't expect him to actually do what he did there.

It was completely bizarre that. Still not sure exactly why that scene ended that way.

I have just watched the latest episode and I thought it was another brilliant one. I read the other day that people have been critical of the second series and I really don't understand why. The pacing is exceptionally good and the show has really developed into a brilliant, character based, adult drama. I liked the first series a lot but Series 2 has been even more outstanding so far in my opinion. Can anybody who isn't that fussed enlighten me as to why 'cause I really don't get it.

Only for those that have seen all that have been aired. And that is just off the top of me head.

The lack of any kind of continuity in what the Zombies are or can do. In the first season they had to cover themselves in their guts just to walk past them. First episode of season two, they just hid under the car as they walked past. In that episode in the first season, they wore gloves to apply the guts as they couldn't get in contact with their blood. Since that there has been numerous killings of Zombies that have had blood go flying and nothing has gone on.

The other one on the Zombies is that they decide whether or not to leg it about depending on the situation they find themselves in. In this season when Shane and Otis go for supplies. They are proper bombing it round to get at them. But when Shane fucks his leg up and can't leg it away, they stop running and start only being able to keep the same pace. Fucks that about?!

At no point has Rick asked his missus or anyone else in the camp, what the fuck happened?! To know that you can't get in contact with their blood or that they needed to head towards the CDC shows that there was before the full on break down of society, enough communication passed about on them, the cause of and what is being done to beat it.

I now hate that they've tried to give the characters some depth because they pretty much fucked that off early on so I'm now at the point where I don't really give a shite. And the the depth that they are now giving them is more on how they deal with the situations in front of them as opposed to anything too much pre when we joined their timelines in the pilot.

Being a big fan of the books I had high hopes for the 2nd season but have been massively disappointed the pace is way to slow. It feels like a soap opera and they way they go around between the characters analysing the storyline from 4 or 5 different angles is completely doing my head in. The whole show is losing perspective of the fast moving pace of season 1. Does anyone know if it's been commissioned for a 3rd season because I really want it to get to the Governor storyline. I must admit I am looking forward to Game of Thrones more now.

I haven't been impressed by it, I actually hate all the characters and hope they die.

They are the walking dead,....

When you compare it to BBCs Survivors it pretty lousy for an American action show, noticed Iantn saying the budget had been cut...and some

Cheers for your thoughts Ian. There were certain things u said which had crossed my mind as well such as the fact that they couldn't come into direct contact with zombie blood and guts at first and now its not a problem. Those kind of things I have noticed (to a lesser extent than u have noticed them I think) have never really bothered me because, in the second series at least, its become less and less about the zombies and more about the characters and how they relate to each other. I think Shane's gradual transformation from a dependable leader of the group to an increasingly unhinged sociopath has been brilliant and raises the question of do people do the right things coz its what they believe in or because of law and order and societal controls. Maybe I'm just overlooking its flaws but this is one of my favourite shows of recent years. Its not quite up there in the top bracket (eg The Wire, Breaking Bad) but its not a million miles away in my opinion.
