Worst Casting Ever?

Suspension of Disbelief aside and all that....

I'd personally nominate Leonardo Di Caprio in 'Gangs of New York'. Did anyone, I mean anyone, for one moment think his baby-faced ,limp-wristed character could beat 'Bill the Butcher' in a street fight?

On a similar note, it has also been a cause of consternation for me for some time that Nick Nolte (at the time) would kick the bollix out of Robert de Niro's 'Max Cady' all day long in the remake of 'Cape Fear'.

What the fuck do these casting people get paid for?

Maybe this thread is incorrectly titled?

Johnathan Rhys Meyers as King somethingorother in The Tudors. I was channel hopping last night and saw some poor wench being burnt at a stake, complete with a gunpowder necklace for a little bit of Hollywood in 1500s England. Anyway, before I realised what it was, said king was speaking to his government, and his accent was so undeniably and unmistakenly Irish, that I was expecting him to end the odd sentence with the odd 'to be sure, to be sure' or an ould 'begorrah'

It was so bad it was good. It was hilarious and cringeworthy in equal measure. I can only expect the casting director... Ahh, a thought has occurred to me. Maybe it was the casting director they were burning at the stake in the middle of the town.

It's unbelievable to think that no English actor, with a suitable English accent could not have been cast and played the part better, than an absolute poncy git like Rhys Meyers who got the part because he happened to be some sort of flavour-of-the-month when it was in development, and damn the consequences.

Daniel Craig as bond

Clive Owen was the only choice for me

Couldn't disagree more, I think Craig is superb in Casino Royal, and Clive Owen has all the on-screen charisma of Maxine in Coronation Street approximately five minutes after Richard Hillman hit her on the head with a hammer.

Nicholas Cage in anything

Agreed, can't act just fucking mumbles his way through everything like an American stroke victim

Tom Hanks as Robert Langdon.

Quite liked the books, saw him cast and new disappointment was imminent

That was actually inspired. If the women in Sex and the City were fit, women wouldn't have watched it.

Makes the think of the Family Guy quote "So its a show about 3 hookers and their mom"

Or when Peter Griffin declares that "Sarah Jessica Parker has a face like a foot".
