Do you need a certain speed of connection for one of these boxes to work? I live in the hills and only get about 2.3mb.

Remember a media PC is just a PC or laptop. (with a HDMI output)

2.3mb is OK for most streams, a good test... is any of the catchup programs via BBC, ITV etc..., if you get them with out buffing you'll be fine.

It can be a large amount of cash layout so first think it though before spending, test your streams.

try Veetle, see if you like it, also do some reading about Mediaportal or other media programs to supplement your view experience; i also download lots of movies via torrents plus watch a lot below

Veetle > channels

you may need to download the player first.

I've been paying half price (£26pm) for the top package on Sky for the last 3 years. Rang up again on Tuesday and got 50% off for another 6 months.

Dead easy just ring up and tell them you're cancelling. They ask you why and you tell them you've been offered half price for 6 months off Virgin and Sky will match it. Doesn't matter if you don't have Cable in your area AFAIK they don't have a map and check.

BTW there's nothing to stop anyone buying a box off eBay and using it for Multiroom. Sky will just send you a card, but you'll probably still be locked into a 12 month contract though.

They only thing they won't budge on (apart from broadband and line rental) is the charge for the HD pack. So I dropped it instead.
