Just finished 1st season, Carroll scored shit loads for me, about 30 In the league 35 overall give or take, (not at pc)

I have him as a target man attacking with Suarez to the left of a front two as a supporting complete forward, he makes the magic Carroll puts it in the net, simples.

I play a 4222 442 but advanced wingers at home sometimes when in need of a goal pushing to a 424.

Downing was shite so I was playing Bellamy wide left until he got a career ending injury( just as he hit form) ,. I sold Kuyt/skrtel tried bellamy but the madbastard announced retirement, I brought in John fleck from rangers in January aswell as renato augusto they both play anywhere behind the striker. Some young brazillian cb I now regret as he's a Cunt and Coates and Wilson r boss, he's now on loan after flipping for not getting a game, he wanted to come back the second we won the fa cup but I might sell him on.

Signed some young striker who's a fox in the box but trying to train his overall game I can't recall his name and tafer (another young striker who was part of my all conquering shalke side of fm11 fame. )

Sterling ,suso and shelvey all did well with shelvey in the end holding down a spot at cm for his performances.

Suarez/ foxyboxy. Carroll/tafer

Augusto/fleck. Gerrard/downing

Lucas/spearing shelvey/Adam

Enrique/aurelio agger/Coates carra/Wilson glenjohnson /Kelly

Finished 5th after having a decent start then falling away and ending the season on a ten game winning streak in the league and an fa cup win that kept me In the job.

New season soon , I'm the gb manager for the olympics aswell and Liverpool have said they will be giving me a minimum of 38 mil to spend depending on expectations.

I'm happy I've got the money but the way the team clicked at the end I'm not sure where the investment should go, may just keep most until January incase any emergencies happen

The mancs are stupidly good. Shrek in particular, along with the Mexican lesbian to a slightly lesser extent, are scoring with pre-war regularity.

Yep, seems a bit messed up to me.

Finished my 2nd season and the Mancs won the league again scoring 138 goals in the process, rarely seemed to score less than about 5 a game.

I'm really not very good, after finishing 2nd the first season, I spent a shed-load of money and finished 5th in the second.

Just got this and spent about 6 hours setting it up (steam is shit).

Not sure why but the appearance of the game seems blared. I've tried it with and without a skin, anyone any idea why it looks like it does? Is this what everyone's game looks like? It's much worse than previous editions.

I need help with Liverpool, can anyone recommend loanees or formations?

Amauri provided backup for my first season. Real have some good players they don't need. Morata may be worth a look first season. Thiago (Barca) is also apparently open to a loan in the first window.

I usually go with an assymetric 4-1-4-1

--------X

X---X-----X----X

----------X

------X

X-------X-------X

---------X

I would say make sure your player roles match the players (much easier to change each match this time around with the little drop downs on the tactic screen.

This is the tactic/formation I use. I'm currently 2nd in the table with Liverpool and in the Carling Cup Final next month. I play Carroll in the centre of the front 3. Defence is rock solid as well.

4-1-2-3 tactic

I'm sure you already know where to put the tactic but just in case, you stick it in Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2012/tactics

It's worked for me but no guarantees and all that.

I changed the Display resolution in the game from 1024 x 768 to 1280 x 800, 60Hz and that seemed to do the trick for me.

Just incase you don't know how to get there it's Preference -> Display and Sound -> Display Mode. Hope that helps.

I thought the same about it being blared. Will try what Yozzer recommends later on when I play it later today. I have just started a new game with Liverpool. Just got a load of new specialist coaches in and signed my first two players, Jelle Vossen (who I always sign every time a new FM comes out) and Kevin De Bruyne both from Genk. I have sold Skrtel and I am trying to sell Henderson to give me some much needed funds. Disgusted with some of the wages and that will be my first priority to lower the wage bill.

I've started off with my compulsory mid table Premier League team so I can get used to the game. I went with Newcastle in the end, although admittedly they're not mid table in real life!

I went with finish mid table finish and got £8mil to spend.

In: Strurridge (Loan); Collison (£4mil); Tshabalala (£300k); Diarra (Free); Wilfried (£3mil) and Vrsaljko (£1mil)

Out: Ameobi (£3.6mil); Smith (£700k) and lots of loans.

Set up with a 4-1-2-2-1, kind of what Chelsea or Arsenal play so I'm set out to control the game.

Amazingly, on the last day, I was within 2 point of the Champions League spots. The season stars had been Ba (17 goals), Cabaye, Gutierrez and Vrsaljko - the lad has turned out to be my best RB at the age of 19. I've really liked the look of Cabaye in real life and on this he is no different, grabbing 13 goals and 13 assists. I had to reject bids of £15mil from United and Inter in the January! Luckily that fat cunt Ashley gave me the option to reject it.

Anyway back to the last day, I needed to beat an already relegated Wigan and hope all other results went for me. Didn't have the best start when Krul got sent off in the 4th minute for handling outside his box! However, the lads rose above the controversy and when Taylor scored off a corner it was simple from then on - ended up 3-0 with star players Cabaye and Gutierrez getting on the score sheet.

What wasn't so simple was the League table as goals were flying in everywhere; West Brom and Arsenal were both above me by 2 points going into the last game. That's right, West fucking Brom under Roy Hodgson were in poll position to be in the Champions League! However, West Brom ended up losing to the shite (yes they are useful sometimes) and Arsenal ended up drawing with Bolton. I thought I'd lost out as I'd assume Arsenal's goal difference was far superior to mine but to my amazement I pipped them to the CL spot by 1 goal! They had +25 and I had +26. Cue mass amounts of fat Geordies with their shirts off.

I obviously needed to bolster the squad and brought in: Rami, Poli, Shaqiri, Pandev (Loan) and Cassano (Loan) with Ben Arfa the only meaningful player leaving me. I'm in November in the 2012/13 season now and I'm on 29 pts after playing 12 games. I also got through the qualifying stage of CL, beating Dynamo Kiev after extra time.

p.s. After guiding West Brom to 6th in the first season, Hodgson just got sacked in November after I beat him thus resulting in his team sitting 20th and winning 2 games. Villas Boas is also manager of Nottingham Forrest which was a bit weird.

Coates had a right shit on with me because he was behind Skrtel, Agger and Carra and demanded a transfer. Injuries to Skrtel and Agger (shock, horror!) has let the big guy in and he's immense. 4 goals in 9 games and average rating of 7.48.

Can't get shut of Downing at all. Offered him about for £10m and only team interested was Marseille who asked me to lower price. Offered him for £7m and they said they couldn't afford his wages. I signed Owen Hargreaves for £400k as I needed a back up defensive midfielder. It seemed to prompt Citeh to come in for Lucas and offered me £18m. I cheekily asked for Tevez in a straight swap (worth £23m, up for sale at £53m) which City agreed to. Problem was he wanted £210k a week and FSG would only give me £55k a week for wages, despite them increasing the wage budget.

Wouldn't sell Henderson if I was you, am in January of my first season and he's been my best CM, play him in the middle with the Advanced Playmaker role and he's awesome. Got an average rating of 7.63 (7.80 in the league) and has 9 assists (though no goals) and has an amazing pass completion stat too. Worth keeping him around. If you do sell him and are looking for a great prospect to replace him then go for Felipe Anderson, 5.5m from Santos and doesn't ask for much in wages at all.

In January in first season with Liverpool. I didn't do much in the summer in terms of players coming in, just the two - Leandro (not damiao) from Gremio great young striker and Felipe Anderson from Santos CM. Sold quite a few fringe and main 1st team players I sold were Skrtel, Aurelio and Maxi. Am top 2 points clear of United at the moment but all I have left to play for are the FA Cup and League as Newcastle knocked me out of the Carling Cup (They're ninth in the league, one place below....Man City!). I play a 4-2-3-1 mainly but sometimes go 4-4-2 with advanced wingers if I want to play Suarez and Carroll together.

Henderson, Carroll, Robinson (Enrique long term injured) and Coates have been the stand out performers for me. Dirk, Adam and Johnson have been shoite.

Quick tip, either use a pre game or a save game editor - increase Tom Wener's patience to 20 and lower the clubs reputation by about 50. Should stop you being sacked so quickly in season 1!

Error on my part which was missed in testing

Excuse my ignorance but how do you go about doing that?!

I changed the Display resolution in the game from 1024 x 768 to 1280 x 800, 60Hz and that seemed to do the trick for me.

Thanks mate, that worked for me. Looks much better now.

I've got FM 2011, any point in buying the new version (aside from player updates)?

Few little changes. Bit more interaction with players but can be good/bad depending on how much you enjoy that sort of thing.

You can get the game for £17.95 at Zavvi if you use the discount code FOOTY10. Link here, but not sure if it works from my phone;

About a third of the way into my second season. Currently lying fifth with a couple of games in hand (we seemed to have our games moved for internationals where others in the league didn't, not sure if that's a bug or not). If we win both of those we'd be 2nd behind L'Arse. The Mancs had an atrocious start to the season but are coming back into it and are 3rd. Newcastle currently 2nd.

All of my first-team players have been somewhere between solid and spectacular with one exception, Carroll, although to be fair Suarez has been keeping him out the team so he hasn't had much game time outside of the reserves. Luis' average rating for the season is 8.5something, Carroll's 6.10.

I can't get the players I want and rather than buy squad players for the sake of it I've been investing in youth. My now-16-year-old left-winger is already putting pressure on Downing with some of his performances, and also signed a fairly promising French left-back of the same age, although he's currently very much a U19s player for now.

Back in the CL we won our first two games with ease but now a top-of-the-group clash away at Bayern beckons, our first real test of our European return.

Long update as I am a long way on from my last update.

Shandong 2015

Warning! The following content is NOT WORK SAFE. Click the Show button to reveal.

Started the season with a scraped 2-0 win which flattered us big style. Then some monster 0-4 and 0-5 defeats, form continued to be indifferent until around 10 games in when we had a decent run ending up in us sitting 2nd in the table before everything collapsed and with only 3 wins towards the end of the season we slumped to 5th place.

We had progressed to the quarters of the FA Cup and I was hopeful a decent run in that could give us Asian Champions League football and pick everyone up with the trophy.

The day after the last league game of the season I was sacked so unable to carry on in the cup. The team went on to win it.

My replacement was sacked at the end of the 2016 season and his replacement sacked at the end of 2017.

Guangzhou Fuli 2016-2018

Warning! The following content is NOT WORK SAFE. Click the Show button to reveal.

In January 2016 I got offered the job at Fuli, with a decent budget and some wages to play with for a change.

The team had been under performing for it's talent (certainly a far superior squad to the one I inherited at Shandong) and with money to spend it was quite an easy job.

We started 2016 a little inconsistently with a 5-0 win followed by two draws, a 4-0 win and a defeat. From then on it was pretty much plain sailing with only one more defeat and two more draws as we cruised to the title finally finishing 13 points clear of 2nd place.

We also won the end of season All-Star game however the FA Cup was a bit of a disappointment when we lost in the 3rd round to Dalian.

2017 was even more successful in the League, with big money to spend I stole most of the talented youngsters from China and added some South American flair to the side and we went unbeaten with 27 wins and 3 draws taken the title by 18 points.

In the Asian Champions League we dominated the group stage with 6 wins from 6 before finally winning against Al-Hilal in the final.

We also picked up trophies for the Chinese Super Cup (Charity Shield type opening fixture of the season), Chinese FA Cup and won the All-Star Game.

The Champions League trophy got us entry to the Club World Championship for the first time.

The Quarter Final was against Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia who we beat 2-0 setting up a Semi Final against the mancs. A 0-0 draw earned us penalties, Phil Jones and Gunter Schneider (regen) both misses for the mancs and got us through to the Final.

In the Final we surprised everyone again beating Cruzeiro 2-0 and being the better side throughout.

2018 we went unbeaten in the League, again with 27 wins and 3 draws. We only won by 15 points this year though.

In the Champions League we had an all Chinese Final this year against Guangzhou Henga which we won 6-1 for our second in a row.

In the domestic cups we won the Super Cup, FA Cup and All-Star Game again.

The club World Championship was a 5-0 win over Auckland City in the Quarters followed by a 1-0 win over the Mancs in the semi in normal time. We lost out 2-3 against Mexican side Morelia in the Final.

I resigned on New Years Day 2019 as obviously there is nothing left to win with Fuli so time to move on.

Palestino, Alianza, Sport Recife, Colo Colo, Vitoria and Coritba.

Warning! The following content is NOT WORK SAFE. Click the Show button to reveal.

I went on holiday with everything set to apply for top division jobs but didn't tick the "return from holiday when offered a job" box so in a period of about ten days I applied for, got the job then moved onto the next club of the clubs above without managing a single game. At Coritba the club played 12 games, winning 10, drawing 1 and losing 1. I wasn't in control at the time though.

When I finally spotted it retook control I saw another job I fancied more and applied for that then took it. That is where I picked things up properly again.

Current trophy tally of my career (excluding the club I went to after Coritba).
