Ha ha. I disagree, Mook. I like The Supremes and think the original is great. However, while they are chalk and cheese, I just think Wilde’s cover is better. It’s a brilliant pop song.

I did used to have a mad crush on her but give me the funk brothers over that mass produced 80s stuff any day.

She was fantastic. She’s probably in early 60s now and must be several dress sizes bigger than she was in her pomp. That said, given the chance, I reckon I’d marry her tomorrow. There’s nothing wrong with a woman who enjoys her food, like. I’d definitely share a KFC Bargain Bucket with her and although I can’t be absolutely certain, I would probably even give her my last Rolo.

Kim Wilde played some free festival in Den Haag a few years back. Mates of mine spent the whole gig down the front shouting out requests for help with a greenfly infestation amongst other gardening problems.

Not a cover version, as this is the original as recorded in the sessions for the Nebraska album, but radically different from the better known version and a better take on the song, I think.

I only found out a while back though I was familiar with him singing it , as it was a favourite of an old mate of mine, it’s surprising how many songs Nelson did write. I believe he’s packed in the weed now , he must be 80 odd?
