The Wonder Years, whilst not really a sitcom, was brilliant.

I remember a place. A town. A house, like other houses, with a yard like a lot of other yards, on a street like a lot of other streets. And the thing is, after all these years, I still look back with wonder.

It's Gary Shandling was very funny too. Talented man.

Was going to add this. Wasn't Shandling an earlier type of Seinfeld? I never watched Seinfeld and its been years since I watched the late Mr Shandling's shows but I get the feeling there were similarities or comparisons at least?

It's similar alright in that they both are playing versions of themselves in each of their shows.  Seinfield was a huge fan of Shandling.

Any suggestions for good current or recent British Sitcoms that are any good?

Looking to acquire something to watch on my iPad on the plane in a few weeks.

Getting year ear of the rabbit, fleabag. Have seen Plebs.

Anyone seen Quacks or Ghosts?

Anything else?

This Country is really good, in my opinion. It actually gets better on rewatching too.

A little less recent but Toast of London, which I rewatched recently, has probably forced its way into my top 5.

They don't exist unless you live in the 80s with Tony Moanero.

Quacks is very good.  I enjoyed Ghosts, but I know some people found it a bit too trite.

Dead Pixels (about online gamers) is one of the best I've seen recently; oddly, it's slipped under the radar a bit.

Don't Forget The Driver has some of the understated charm of Detectorists, but with some much darker subject matter.

Timewasters is very silly, but there are a few decent laughs in it. The same goes for Sliced.

Been sitting painting tonight while playing my Dads Army box set.

Just watched the episode Branded.

Godfrey is shunned as he was a conscientious objector in the first world War. In the end they find out he volunteered and joined the medical corps as a stretcher berrer and had run out into no man's land under fire to save several men.

Fantastic episode in the midst of the comedy series. Similar to the ending of Blackadder IV.

Arnold Ridley was the actor who played Godfrey and below is the injuries he sustained during the war including the Somme.

He saw active service in the war, sustaining several wounds in close-quarter battle. His left hand was left virtually useless by wounds sustained on the Somme; his legs were riddled with shrapnel; he received a bayonet wound in the groin; and the legacy of a blow to the head from a German soldier's rifle butt left him prone to blackouts after the war. He was medically discharged from the army with the rank of Lance Corporal in 1916

Been watching the Fawlty Towers reruns on the Beeb and glad to say it's still as laugh out loud and brilliant even 45 years later . It's just so brilliantly written in that not one scene is wasterd as a filler, every one has a moment ...Just genius

And the fact there's wasn't many episodes really does prove less is more ...
