Does Friday Night Dinner get good? I switched off after about 10 minutes of the first episode, found it excruciatingly unfunny.

Friday night dinner is boss. Another great character is Grumio off Plebs. The show isn’t good enough to be in a top 20 conversation but he’s a great creation.

Cheers, I'll give it another try at some point.

The Dad in it is funny as fuck. Used to have be in pieces when I watched the first series. haven't watched much since but it is definitely worth giving a proper go.

Alan Statham on Green Wing is probably the funniest comedy character I’ve ever seen.

I also love a quiet gem of a comedy series, Still Game, about a load of Scottish wrinklies.  It has a bit of the Father Ted surrealism.  There was an episode where the locals were being pestered by smack rats and they brought this huge bloke back from where he was living to sort then

out.  Makes me laugh quite a bit.

Still Game's excellent, love the way they take the piss out of Boaby in the pub. The last series or two have been pretty poor though, they shouldn't have brought it back.

To think half these shows couldn't be made today cause some cunt would find it offensive.

Like what? Fleabag and The Inbetweeners would never have been made in the '70s, '80s or '90s, and yet they're superb comedy series.

Aah, the familiar cry of the embittered white moron.

Most of these shows get regularly repeated - and most of them look quaint and tame compared to a lot of today's comedy.

No Early Doors? Better than The Royle Family for me. Dinnerladies? Absolutely Fabulous? Gavin and Stacey? Get to fuck out of it!

Early Doors was fucking brilliant.

Dinnerladies, AbFab and Gavin and Stacey I wouldn’t watch if you paid me!

Sod it, as everyone else is doing their list, I'll do mine:

Bottom

I'm Alan Partridge

Only Fools and Horses

Blackadder

Porridge

Yes, Minister

Father Ted

Red Dwarf

The Young Ones

Nathan Barley

Phoenix Nights

Spaced

Black Books

The Mighty Boosh

The IT Crowd

The Likely Lads

Hancock's Half Hour

Man Down

15 Storeys High

Dad's Army

I've never really got Fawlty Towers, despite the odd moment that raises a smile.

Not without a lot of crying from the usual hypocrites.
