How many languages can you speak?

English and Welsh, Welsh being my first language.

I am fluent in over six million forms of communication, and Bocce is like a second language to me.

Uncannily though, after a few beers, i find that i am fluent in absolute bollocks.

Between 3 and 6 depending on who you ask. English, Serbian, Croatian, Montenegrin and Bosnian. Also understand enough Macedonian to get by comfortably.

English, French, Swedish, Finnish fluently (I work and write documents in each), Danish somewhat, Norwegian I understand, but with both it's more Swedish that I speak back, read German, used to speak fluent Russian, but spent the last 30 years trying to forget it. Russian sucks.

Spanish will be getting learned before i set off backpacking in South America.

Those are mental hard languages, i've heard there are insane amounts of vowels before you even start to piece it together. Major respect to anyone who has actually pulled it off.

I'm ashamed to say only one. I studied Latin at school, did French and German O Levels and A Levels and then just let them all lapse. I know enough to just about get by in France, but my German is fully shite. I couldn't even follow the gist of a conversation auf Deutsch. I've never studied Spanish, but I've picked up enough to muddle through most simple situations over the years.

Japanese is fucking hard too. I spent 6 months going to classes and at the end it of I could order a beer in Japanese. .

Which, of course, is all I really needed.

Thats why they reckon Japanese kids are so well behaved and do so well in school. Their language is so fucking difficult it requires the commintment of a professional athlete, so they are groomed from a vey young age to be dedicated to their studys, otherwise they can never learn the language.
