Raheem Sterling

I remember going to the Norwich game at home last season. Raheem had been awful at Hull and an England supporting colleague said look out for Redmond as a wild card for the World Cup.

Right up until Luis' 40 yard wonder goal, Redmond looked the better player but, subsequently, Raheem seemed to grow in confidence and he hasn't looked back since.

Is he world-class or just benefiting from Guardiola's system?

His close control, and acceleration are world class.

Still not a good striker of the ball but Pep's system is making it so that he's getting finishing opportunities close to the goal so it doesn't matter.

He always had the makings of a top top player. He was really the only light in those darkest days under Rodgers, and was doing some ridiculous things even as a teenager. Shame Klopp never got to work with him.

That said, the comp. he gets from City is not anything we were ever going to match; with the inflation of fees that deal will only ever begin to look worse and worse as he’s still very young, but it was probably the best move at the time.

I've said this before, but in a way he's the worst sale we've ever done. Not because he's better than Suarez or Xabi or whoever else, but because we got strong-armed by a 21 year old kid at the time who already thought he was too good for us. That was the ultimate sign of our decline before we got Klopp.

It would've been interesting to see if we could have kept him had we not messed up his contract situation and paid him accordingly.
