Would Jock accept the job of Assistant Manager?

Recommended Posts

I bet people will laugh at this. But think about it! Jock was very close to Kenny when he was our manager first time. Not as official assistant manager but as club captain and confidant. They remain very close to this day. No-one knows the King better. Perhaps with Steve Clarke now here it isn't necessary. However there is a nice symmetry to the fact that both Jock and Kenny left the club at virtually the same time - 20 years ago - when we were league champions and top of the table. Thinking about the Damned United movie it was interesting to see how close Clough and Taylor were and perhaps Clough wasn't the same without him. Also having Jock back would only remind people of the glory days. Silly? Maybe. But perhaps he's bored after 20 years sitting on the MOTD sofa and might fancy a change?

Marina probably does, so she's obviously a better option.

Is there a vacancy? I wasn't aware that there was. Or - after defeat at home to Spurs - was the cry 'sack the assistant manager!'?

Sammy's pefectly capable of the job - although I expect that after Kenny packs it in (with numbers 22 and 7 under his belt), it'll be Steve's turn. Sammy'll have a couple of years later on when he wins numbers 28 and 11.

Shanks - Bob - Joe.

Kenny - Steve- Sammy.

And a shedload of dosh for Jocky sitting in a studio saying how wonderful it all is.

When Kenny and Steve Clarke signed new contracts Clarke was promoted to assisstant manager.

According to the offal Sammy Lee is assisstant manager and Clarke is first team coach.

Strange, as when Kenny and Clarke signed their new contracts I remember Clarke being refered to as assisstant manager.

Did you see Hansen and Kenny on LFCTV last night at the Gastro Bar and Grill for Marina's celebrity cook-up? Very amusing seeing Kenny trying to prepare the meals while the likes of Hansen, Sammy Lee, Lawrenson and Steve Clarke were taking orders and serving meals. Hansen said, 'If there's a fire in the kitchen, and Kenny's started it, that will be hilarious'.

What was the name of the show on lfctv they showed that on or what time approximately did it air? Wouldn't mind tracking that down for a looksie
