I'm off to see this at the Edinburgh Jazz & Blues festival next week...

http://www.edinburghjazzfestival.com/programme/artists/david-patrick-the-jazz-rites-of-spring.html

A jazz octet doing an interpretation of Starvinsky's The Rite of Spring, I was listening to it the other night & can't work out for the life of me how they're going to pull it off but it'll certainly be interesting watching them try. Seemingly they played it at a local jazz bar last year & got a standing ovation.

OK, so they pulled off brilliantly, one of the best gigs I've ever been to. I done something I rarely ever do & bought a CD after it, the woman at the counter asked me if I wanted my CD autographed, "for your mum?". Wasn't quite sure what to say to that so I done a Michael Jackson crotch grab & ran off into the night.

I actually think I know a lot more about what Igor Stravinsky was getting at now after seeing it framed in a jazz setting, the bloke was fucking insane.

This is Blues with a tinge of metal.

The Groundhogs Cherry Red.  (They toured with the Stones in early 70s - Blues had morphed into Blues/Rock by then)

Video is NSFW.  The song is very safe for work.  In fact it should be blasted through the sound system of every place of work in the whole country at full volume.
