My mate's in laws are from the North East and he had an intersting theory. He reckons misogynistic views are more common up there because shipbuilding was a protected trade in the second world war, so the men weren't conscripted and the women stayed at home.

 

Whereas in other parts of the country women worked in factories etc and "proved themselves", mixed more and the men became a bit less cunty in their views.

 

Dunno if it's bollocks but it's interesting.
