If you listen to most republican voters going back to McCain's time when the wheeled Palin out (the proto trump) it was all about "taking on Washington" and "draining the swamp", which is ironic as the republicans are the swamp and Reaganomics created modern America's gross economic disparity, which has spawned most of this working class rage.

 

Problem is, the people who profited most from that disparity both there and here don't want it to end, so they buy up news organisations and have them permanently pointing the finger at "the other". 

 

The plebs and the oligarchs want Trump to smash the FBI, the courts, the state, but for different reasons.

I think people just panic and worry because of the way the media will portray the election race. You'll see inaccurate polls exaggerating Republican chances. The media and press want us to tune in and engage, nothing will achieve that in better fashion than driving fear and hysteria in the run in.

In a way Trump is only possible because of stale politics where 95% is just lip service, empty rhetoric and mythical values that are constantly parroted.

 

It's just sad that people vote against their interests because they think he has their back or that he'll change American politics for the better.

I just can't see Trump winning over new voters. Maga whoppers will obviously stubbornly cling on but any reasonable people won't join the red side if they didn't in previous elections. Although..... it's a massive country so there will be big cultural differences between states.
