What has always astounded me about Trump is how genuinely thick he seems. Much like Truss, they've simply worked out how to work the angles, find the weak spots and claw their way up through what is a diseased society. In any other time, they'd have both been on the outskirts of the village being pelted with rotten fruit. 

 

They're kind of the opposite of me. I've always fancied myself as not thick, but have never found a way to get promoted or do well in organisations, because I simply don't have those skills -  the skills to select the right coat tails to hang on to, how to bullshit, pretend, fake it til I make it or know when to keep my mouth shut and suck up, or to speak up and how to do it and when. I'm an inverted Donald Trump.

Pointy elbows only get you so far, so whatever ‘talent’ and ‘nous’ she has have been stretched to an unimaginable degree, and way beyond her competencies.

 

Remember when she got absolutely rinsed as Foreign Secretary by The Russian Foreign Minister, who made her look like an utter moron?

 

Then we got onto think tanks, she worked at one previous to parliament, and just thought about what you’d do all day?

 

Fuck all really, then do a power point for the other five people who work there and think the same thing before trying to get on The World At One to call someone a useless cunt for not following your, clearly demented, ideas.

Trump got there through his, largely inherited, fortune and a talent for self promotion.

 

Truss got there due to her brown nosing loyalty and the hollowing out of the Tory party by a paranoid Johnson.

 

Neither have any ethics, discernable morality or fixed political views, they just go where they think will be most advantageous for themselves. Both have also had huge slices of luck in their upbringing or being in the right place at the right time.

It's a talent that does not require intelligence at all. What you need is craven opportunism in your DNA and a complete lack of loyalty in your moral fibre. Tell people (above and below) what they want to hear and repeat ad nauseam until you believe it yourself. 

 

Must dig it up but there is some "finding" that compulsive liars actually end up believing their shite after x number of repetitions. Frightening really.

Dunno, depends how you define intelligence - he couldn't survive on a desert island for more than about sixty minutes, doesn't know anything about general knowledge I'd suspect, probably couldn't pass a simple exam.
