I couldn't begin to place Trump in the despot/psychopath leagues.

 

Hitler was coherent (at least at the beginning) and had a belief system and a plan. He lived relatively frugally compared to his underlings and saw himself as fulfilling some kind of calling.

 

Same with a lot of these guys. Mao, Gadaffe etc did things they 'thought' were good. Gadaffe instigated some sort of semi socialist policies in Libya, while Mao virtually wiped out the triads and the opium epidemic.

 

Trump is literally a gangster. He cares nothing for what he perceives to be any higher calling. He doesn't care about America, its military, its safety or future, he doesn't care about republicans, doesn't care of you're white or black, it's all about keeping up any kind of half arsed charade long enough for him to make more money. I think he even values his kids based purely on how much money they've made in the last year.

He was highlighting how some of the scariest traits of despots - projecting strength; demonising minorities; attacking institutions of governance - are the very reasons their supporters love them.
