Very good, flawless first half. Particularly liked the way he invited small triangles and always moved quickly to a new position after he played the ball. Proper pass and move football several times in the first half (even involving Dirk:eek:). A couple of minor errors second half, and a couple of misplaces passes, but looked very assured and calm. Having Dirk and Carra there to help him out obviously helped, but top marks to the lad! With Carra's (and to a lesser degree Skrtel's) limitations with ball at feet it's absolutely vital that our full backs don't panic with the ball. Aurelio is brilliant with the ball, and if Flanagan is as good as he looked today we'll be sorted defensively until Aurelio breaks in two again:whistle:

Fantastic performance. What really impressed me was his calm and how he used the ball. He just looked like an experienced player. Defensively he wasnt tested, as City were not going much wide, and when they did Kuyt really helped him out. But everything they threw at him he handled with ease.

Thinking hard, the only tiny "mistake" he made all match was giving away a needless free kick in the 89th minute or so. An absolute wonderful debut. And I can also imagine all the other young lads in the u18 and u16 teams watching this match thinking this can be me.

A fantastic motivation for every kid at the club.

Class class act, didn't make it to the match tonight got exam fee's to pays in a couple of months. A few Manc's in the pub which is unusual! They seemed very very riled with Flano, Spearing, Dalglish and Kelly even tho he wasn't playing.

Looking forward to next season massively! And the end of this season If we keep blooding!

Great debut, very composed and assured player. Hopefully we can give him a few more games between now and the end of the season. Him, Kelly, Johnson and (maybe) Enrique would be good options for the full back positions.

Dalglish on John Flanagan debut: "We didn't tell him until 6pm. We wouldn't have had enough tickets to go round if he'd known earlier"

Haha!

Absolutely made up for the lad, stuck with Carra in the early stages until he found his feet. Credit to the whole team who were looking to give him a good few touches in relatively straight forward situations to ease him into it. Shame he never really had a run with the ball.

Glen Johnson, England's 3rd best right back!
