Top top top signing if true. The guy can defend and attack extremely well and I have been an admirer of his for many years.

3 things we need in our team:

Dangerous crosses

Pace down the flanks

A winning mentality

Enrique has all of these in abundance. Anyone who saw the lad against Villa will know how hard he strove to get his team forward and the first player Newcastle looked for when starting up an attack was Jose Enrique. Him and Carroll were a perfect match for the toon and I'm sure they will be at Anfield. It's also worth mentioning that Enrique only recently turned 25 so he still has age on his side. Lets just hope he does pull on a Liverpool shirt next season ;)

Does beg the queston where Kelly and Johnson will play next season

Maybe he will play as both a rightback and centreback.

I wouldnt mind seeing a shawcross/Cahill Kelly combination getting bedded in from next season

You need at least three players for those two positions, ideally four. Selling Magic is a ridiculous thing to even contemplate. He's a quality player when he's working within a system that can accommodate attacking fullbacks. He's one of the best in his position.

If we're serious about getting back into the top four and having a crack at the title, we need to avoid mistakes of the past, in my opinion. It's ace having a world beater in a position, but if they spend time out due to injury or just out of form, you lose a massive part of what makes you a good team. That's why we've not challenged in the past, despite having some of the very best players in the world.

Alonso, Mascherano, Gerrard, Torres, Reina, Johnson, Carra, Agger was one of the most amazing spines to a team that I've ever seen. The problem is that when Torres was out or Gerrard wasn't firing, we didn't have an Anelka or Berbatov to come in like Chelsea or United do when they lose Drogba or Rooney.

We need to build a squad, not a team.

Read the first line again, mate! I said that we need at least three players for those two positions, ideally four.

I wouldn't be against Enrique coming here, but given our limited budget and having Johnson, Kelly (and hopefully Flanagan) able to do a job at RB, I'd rather see our money (esp a rumoured £15m) spent elsewhere.

LB, both wings and a play-making midfielder are all bigger priorities for me this summer.

My bad.

I think we'll have 3 or 4 for those postions even if we did sell Johnson.

Not of that experience and quality, though.

Kelly

Enrique

Johnson

Outside of that, we've got Aurelio, who is great but made out of the shards of broken records, we've got Flanno, who is 12 and has played once... am I forgetting somebody?

Johnson was excellent on the left between Kenny taking over and his injury. I'd be quite happy with him and Kelly as our starting full-backs in August.

Flanagan and the addition of Enrique would set give us far greater depth, particularly at left-back which has been as big a problem position for us as the left wing.

I would assume Enrique will cost somewhere around £5m.
