What is supposed to be iconic about it? Is it because its by the Mersey?

Its not like its the first stadium in the World built close to water.

It may be the first football stadium to be underwater though…

Nothing really. It's just Everton and their weird fans who think everything they do is unique and special.

They invent all the angst against it as well.

“Aaaaarrrgggghhh you’re jealous as fuck lad”

”I’m not arsed mate good on you. Area needed redevelopment anyway so fair play”

”See you can’t even say it can you! Aaaaagggghhhh another soft kopite cunt jealous as usual. Your heads fell off hahahaaaaahhhh!”

“We’ve still got a bigger capacity mate”

”Aaaaarrrrgggghhhhh murderin cunt!!!!!”

They really are fucking weird. They just invent things to get angry about. They are more obsessed with Anfield than any liverpool fan is about their new ground. They never shut up about it being "their" ground, it being a loft extension full of tourists and obsess about that David Conn article from 2013.

They've also weirdly tried to invent a rivalry with Newcastle now too.

Even on the stripped back acoustic version a few of them can’t help throwing in that cringey “woooo” before the first chorus.

Fantastic fanbase.

“It’s good news, for the Blues….”

Why are so many people in this thread acting so bitter that they’re getting a new ground?

You should see every time a picture of Anfield is posted on some footy grounds page on Facebook or Twitter. You can guarantee that 80/90% of the comments on there are from Everton fans. They even wade in when it's an LFC page.

That’s them though, isn’t it. Doesn’t mean we have to be cunty about it.

People don't have to like their ground though. There's bits of it I like. There's bits I don't (since the end of it was pointed out to me it looks like the new Dublin airport, I can't I unsee that although I think it resembles a Tesco extra more). And the inside looks a bit meh, like lots of new grounds. But I think mainly it's people reacting to blues saying it's the greatest stadium in the world, when obviously that won't be true. And it's not too unreasonable for people to be pissed off at the part they played in the city losing it's world heritage status - although I feel that anger should be directed more towards the likes of Joe Anderson and his cronies.

I think its a mediocre design in the dumbest fucking place to put a ground but they put it there because they belive in all that banks of the Merseyside shit. It's a Tesco superstore hybrid airport terminal bollocks. Don't get me wrong I think our ground looks fucking ridiculous two stupid giant stands landlocked fuck up but... its Anfield and the whole football world knows it. Ultimately it's all bollocks youre not staying at a hotel for the night you go there you look at the pitch for 90 plus minutes then fuck off. Everyclub has their own dramas they don't give a shit about your ground.

I don’t think we have to worry too much about their ground being thought of by the greater football community as equal to or better than Anfield for the foreseeable future, it might bear comparison after a few iconic European nights, or games that have a similarity to Liverpool v Newcastle, or Liverpool v Forest back in the day.

On current form that’ll be another ten years minimum.

But regardless of that, we don’t need approval or agreement from anyone other than ourselves, they can delude themselves as much as they wish, you can’t buy, or build, history, respect or admiration.

You're wrong about that, don't you know that a new stadium brings immediate on the field success.
