Progress update.

Mind your heads don't fall off.

I mock, it does look decent on the outside.

Inside, it just looks like every other new ground built. It looks like a rounded, 3 sides version of Blackburn.

The stadium looks like what it is: a decent-sized, modern stadium. Inside will be nice,  with lots of bars, places to eat and opportunities for corporate experiences.

The talk of it being iconic, game changing for them etc is premature. They'll be as big a tourist attraction as they are now,  they'll make a bit more in match day and that'll be about it. The memories make a stadium iconic imo.

Warm beer and cold pies ?

Wont that clash with lorry traffic to and from the port?

i wouldn't think so. There's not millions of coaches for away fans is there. lost come by car, train etc. It's a pretty clear run from the M57, along dunnigsbridge to the dock road at the freeport. and i imagine load of space that can be used as match day coach parks.

I really hate the exterior, it’s shite. Interior is like a tennis stadium, like a shit Arthur Ashe. It’s better than what they have, and the facilities will be better, but these talk of it being the best stadium around is bollocks.

It has no character. Like their fans.

Don't think I've ever had a clear run from M57, along Dunningsbridge, especially on a Saturday. Switch Island could get tasty.

Yeah I’ve never heard of Sandhills described as town, and this is 20 minute walk from there towards the docks.
Looking on the map it doesn’t look like there’s sufficient road access around the stadium. 3 sides are surrounded by water so just one side will feel the brunt. And will away coaches have to travel through town? They’re going to wish they’d thought this through.

They’ve only just started talking about Sandhills station on match days.

It’s sort of related but Everton were consulted by Peel and National Highways over the A5036 Port of Liverpool Access Road which would destroy Rimrose Valley, its playing fields, the community running track brought back to life by Carragher’s brother and Marsh Lane Harriers, and probably most of Buckley Hill too, while South Sefton and North Liverpool have some of the worst air quality and health outcomes in the country.

The container docks are just the start of the Freeport, which goes out nearly 45 square miles and is shady as fuck.

There’s some talk of an announcement on the road soon, and the council and MPs are publicly against it at least, but the City Region level are beholden to growth.

There was a cool “demo” in the summer and a great community campaign which is more than just anti road.

Time will tell but the fact they’ve built the stadium without really addressing transport links (as posters have said Saturdays will be hectic getting in and out of town) coherently smacks of the same approach as when they did Liverpool 2 container birth and it was all handshakes from Osborne and fuck the local population. Meanwhile how much went down the drain on HS2?

I'm on that road most weekends. I don't think it's any worse than edge lane (in fact I'd say it's better), which is the alternative if they're bringing them in down Leeds street to the dock road.

Deffo better than edge lane but I think it will be a logistical nightmare badly thought through for nothing more than an ill perceived bit of one upmanship.

We had a pub on the corner of Great Howard Street/Boundary street and even the market day was bad

It’s true, I’m from near there and they can fuck off if they think they’re going to build a road over it. My sister’s mate married a tree to raise publicity for the cause and it worked. People were frothing at the mouth on Mail Online and she was in most newspapers including one that shall remain nameless. If it’s Everton causing it getting tarmacked over that’ll be extra sour. They’ll have a fight on their cunting hands.
