In the 7 years they've owned us, what actions have FSG done in the transfer market to make you think they would be willing to pay 70m on an injured centre half?

Spend 35 million on Andy Carroll.

Successive managers have been allowed to spunk a shitload on overpriced players.

If the injury was a concern, then I doubt it would have gone as far as it did.

And I don't believe anyone will pay £70m for Virgil van Dijk.

We've paid over the odds on shite, but never at the top end. This would be a world record fee for a defender. There's no way we'd go through with the deal.

They've explained why the did that. Basically they got 20m more than they expected for torres, so we're willing to pay 20m over their valuation of Carroll. Which they did to the penny. Unless you're expecting us to get 100m for one of our current centre backs, I don't get your point.

I wouldn't have paid £30m for Pickford but he pisses all over Mig.

Not really.  Especially not if you compare what they did at Sunderland.

They both had an impressive season at relegation-fodder Sunderland before moving to a bigger club.  At Sunderland, you get nothing but shot-stopping practice, because all the outfield players are shite.  In a better team, the job is different.  Mignolet's transition, it's fair to say, has not been smooth.  We've yet to see how Pickford handles it.

They may claim to hate Rooney, but they are all secretly hoping he finishes his career there when he is old and shit. No doubt he will be designated for the same "legend" treatment as Big Dunc.

Full marks for accuracy, though I must say I didn't expect him to have hit the "old and shit" stage by the age of 31.

It's what happens when your conditioning throughout your career as an athlete includes Embassy No 1's.

They've not spent badly for a side outside the top six trying to strengthen a little in depth. Stoke or West Brom would be delighted with this sort of summer spend. They've still swapped one of the best Premiership forwards for a couple of decent players, several squad fillers and an ageing celebrity on his last legs. They're also a feeder club for United as well as the mancs favourite retirement home.

Echo pulling a good one

By Bloo math its a £100ml deal for Lukaku

75ml fee + 15ml in add ons

Plus the free transfer of Rooney whos valued at 10ml = 100ml

By this guy's logic his girlfriend fucked him off to go and shag someone with more money who could take her to places he could never dream of. He's now willing to take his girlfriend back now that she's fatter, uglier and of no use to the rich fella because he's gone out and got a younger model.

My head is about to fall off after reading this, we've missed out big time not going for Keane, Klaasen etc. The tide, its turning. The giant is waking from its slumber. Even Carra is bricking it.

Carraghers litte dig at us on twitter was hilarious. We signed the most promising young English goal keeper in football in Jordan Pickford, we signed Davy Klassen Ajax's driving force and captain and a promising centre back in Michael Keane.Sure he didn't make the grade at Manchester United (a club that has won a lot more major honours than our red neighbors!) but there's no shame in that.We signed a player who came through the Barcelona academy in Sandro Ramirez. This fella had a great season for Malaga and La Liga is a very strong league. Then there's another promising talent in Henry Onekuru who we loaned out to Anderlecht.Liverpool supporters would love to have these players but their ours.Carraghers little snide remark just smacks of sour grapes and bitterness. They are the words of a man who is worried and who see Everton as a real threat to Liverpool.Well you certainly do have good reason to be worried Carra. After 30 years a sleeping giant is finally starting to awake from it's slumber.

They have made some decent signing but none of the calibre to "wake up a sleeping giant." 6th would still be an over achievement for them next year.
