Massive Mike Walker vibes about Potter if he goes there. Their ludicrous expectations would choke him in no time at all.

he hasn't quite flown he heights of mike walker just yet! Walker finished 3rd with Norwich, which while that might not be achievable today, it is certainly better than just about avoiding relegation of Potter. Which seems to be exactly the same as his predecessor.

Did he have to sell his best players year on year, or did those best players just want to leave as soon as a better club came calling? Because the two are not the same thing.

Can't ever remember them having any best players, had loads who where/are better than our best players.

Just about avoiding relegation perfectly matches their objective, as per The Godfather.

Not a fan, then….

My father will hear about this POTTER!

He could be good for them but who is he going to attract. Everton either need to be incredibly smart in transfer windows or make their wage bill even more ridiculous to attract quality known players.

Nuno is and was propped up by Mendes. Him going to Palace says it all. He's average.

They should genuinely get Howe or Potter. Especially Potter. They have to stop going for big or fancy names that don't give a fuck about them. They aren't a big club, they need to make a coherent appointment for what they are and build.

Wolves got their players because the owner has shares in Mendes’ agency. Not because of Nuno.

Nuno has only managed clubs with a Mendes connection because they're apparently great friends. He's benefitted from Mendes his whole career.

I think Potter is a decent manager. No sure he could cope with the weight of Everton expectations though. Bill will be saying ‘Graham has promised me the Champion’s League’ when he’s introducing him.

I had 5 Live on a few weeks back and they devoted a bit of time to Everton and how they thought they were underachieving. This was before Ancelotti had quit, but Rory Smith was saying how they didn’t have an identity and that they need to look clubs like Dortmund and RB Leipzig. He was basically saying that they should be looking to develop young talent with a promise to sell them on to bigger clubs, but that their fan base holds them back as they see themselves as a destination club and wouldn’t approve of selling a player who’d done well.

They think they’re a big club so they overspend on players actual big clubs wouldn’t touch any longer like Rodriguez supplemented with what they think is the best of the rest but inevitably are overhyped and overrated like Walcott and King.

They can't attract genuine top quality - so they overpay for lesser players in a desperate attempt to try and close the massive gap between them and the top clubs and to ensure that the clubs they are really competing with like Villa, West Ham et al don't grab the players they are left with as realistic.

They offer bigger wages and spunk the biggest percentage of their annual revenue on wages in the whole of the league.

They’re stuck in the middle, can’t afford top  players and have no system in terms of football like Brighton or in transfer policy like Leicester.

Just a terribly run club from top to bottom, and one that is totally deluded about it's stance in the game.

This is basically it. They started having real money but didn't realize they still aren't an attractive club or have any meaningful football project and so they inevitably spend it on midtable averageness and big club rejects.

They've had genuinely one of the worst strategies in world football these last 5 years.

Was Walker manager when Norwich beat Bayern Munich (thereby equalling Everton's only impressive European result ever)?
