That's the old one at Kings Dock where the arena is now isn't it?.

They had another two (Kirkby and Walton Hall Park) fall through after that.

If they fail to get the Bramley Moore one off the ground they should just accept staying at Goodison forever.

Probably but still 20 years and still not built anything.

What what’ll happen first - they win a trophy or build a ground?

Probably the ground.

It's amazing the way they say that Liverpool ran down the Anfield area with their indecision over a new ground.  Yet they've spent 20 years looking to move away from their ground with half arsed attempts.

County Road/Walton becomes more run down as the years go by. But none of them ever mention the effect it has had on the area or what it will do to the pubs round the ground if they actually ever do fuck off.

You could even make a case that the failed move to Kirkby fucked that area over as well. Tesco bought two pieces of land in Kirkby for around £65m to help them build a new stadium yet Everton couldn't come up with £30m.

The ground was binned off and then Tesco pulled out. Kirkby has been let down for around 15 years and has only now had some investment with a new train station,  Morrisons and a cinema being built at the moment.

This, if they had any appetite to build it they would already be in it, all the consultations they keep doing are a stalling tactic.

Think I mentioned on here a while back there’s a Lad I know who worked for the committee who authorised grants etc for works to be done on the city and he was telling me the initial plans they submitted were deliberately designed to be sent straight back for changes. Covid done them a massive favour in delaying resubmission and therefore going to the back of the queue again. Also, take into account the current heritage England drama where they knowingly went for a site that was under loads of restrictions to build on. They should have just went straight to gilmoss when they had the chance and they’d have had it built now but with these mings, they always have to do something shinier than us.

As soon as the commonwealth games were taken away they should have just come straight out and said this is a none starter.

Makes me laugh when Evertonians say Salah or Mane will leave for a "big club".

There's probably only a handful of clubs you could class as bigger than us yet there's at least 50 or 60 clubs I can think of who are bigger than them.

Every decent player they've had for the last 35 years has left them. Even the legendary Big Dunc fucked off when Newcastle wanted him.

Behind Walter Smiths back for £8m, because they didn't have a pot to piss in.

After bringing Ferguson to Newcastle, manager Ruud Gullit was rewarded when Ferguson scored twice on his debut against Wimbledon in the Premier League. The final result was a 3–1 victory to Newcastle.[3] Ferguson subsequently suffered an injury and played only seven times in the 1998–99 season. This included a substitute appearance in the 1999 FA Cup Final, which Newcastle lost to Manchester United. His extended absence lasted from late December until April. Likewise, Ferguson was injured in the first half of the 1999–2000 season, and was unable to play in the last seven league matches of the season. His final appearance came in the FA Cup semi-final defeat to eventual winners Chelsea.

On 17 August 2000, Ferguson moved back to Everton for a fee of £3.75 million. The transfer had previously been close to collapse as he sought a £1 million "loyalty payment" from Newcastle for not personally asking for a transfer; he had made the same amount of money from Everton when he transferred in 1998 on the same basis.

In August 2003, Jamie Jackson of The Guardian called Ferguson "arguably the biggest waste of money of all", citing his high transfer fees and wages compared to his injury record and age. By that point, he had scored 12 times in 41 games in three years at Everton, while earning over £5 million in salary. His 192 minutes of play in 2002–03 as a goalless substitute cost the club £9,000 per minute

Ferguson was accused of racial abuse by Fulham's Luís Boa Morte after an FA Cup fourth round match in January 2004. The accusation was dismissed by the Football Association, who found insufficient evidence.[28] On 28 December that year, Ferguson came on for Marcus Bent in the 74th minute of Everton's 2–0 loss at Charlton, and within ten minutes he was sent off for an elbow on Hermann Hreiðarsson.

During the 2005–06 season, Ferguson was sent off against Wigan Athletic for violent conduct. His confrontation with Paul Scharner and subsequent fracas with Pascal Chimbonda resulted in a seven-match ban and saw his Premier League red–card count reach eight, equalling Patrick Vieira's record. On 7 May 2006, against West Bromwich Albion at Goodison Park, Ferguson was named captain in the game that marked the end of his Everton career. His 90th-minute penalty kick was saved by Tomasz Kuszczak, but he subsequently scored from the rebound, netting his final goal for the club. Ferguson was not given a new Everton deal and retired, moving his family to Mallorca and spurning advances from a number of clubs.

The résumé of an everton legend, christ the bar is so low even ants would struggle to get under it.

A very poorly run club that has 'used' us as a deflection for their own mismanagement. Its fans have been carried along by this propaganda and largely chosen to ignore the evidence staring at them in the face. I understand as it is often far easier to blame others for your mistakes than to accept any responsibility for them yourself.

They are as clear a textbook case of projection as you'll see. Accusing us of all of the actions they themselves display. All they've ever witnessed as fans is their club selling off talent as soon as it can, even once a blue always a blue to the mancs. In exchange they've purchased washed up ex Man U players for decent cash.

Had their club had even a slice of ambition they could have actually won something in the last 25 years, instead it is us that have held them back. It's not as if they've ploughed that cash into the team for all of those years, where's the Arteta money? Someone has got very rich, while they have struggled season after season.

I suppose leaving the land of delusion brings with it too much pain, far easier to stare at us with hate filled eyes than their own club that has used them for so long.

So they accuse us of being mired in debt, while they owe their owner more money than they are worth, and have several large loans too. They point to our best players being sold, when in fact it's themselves that have that record. When we watch good players leave us we often invest that cash in better players. They accuse us of using PEDs to win a league when one of their own players admitted they did actually this in 62/63.

To be fair to everton they did win being top of the league in October, something to stick in that dusty old trophy room with the Cuckoo clock, Lord Snowdon and their hopes and dreams.

Who would have thought that in 1977 when Emlyn Hughes came out with that line "Liverpool are magic, everton are tragic" that he would be predicting the next 43 years and more.

Really dont get why they idolise him so much. Two Evertonians I know say he was their idol growing up. One even went to a couple of Newcastle games when he left. They say we are a weird cult.

If Big Dunc had played for us we would have looked at him as a player on the same level as Neil Ruddock, Julian Dicks or another player who was never fit who did the odd thing when he was available.

What makes you so convinced that they won't build it?. Apart from them paying for it.

After four and a half years they don't own the land, have the funding, have detailed plans or have planning consent.  The business case doesn’t improve with age, either.

Well it won't get built with that attitude.

Like I said, such a low bar for legends. I mean if you look at the last 25 years he probably is a legend among the rabble they've signed. It's very sad.

Thought they had bought the land. So in April it will have been 5 years and they haven't even bought the land?. Like Red74 said, why choose a site that has so many heritage concerns and hurdles to overcome when they could have easily built a stadium out by the East Lancs road with a massive amount of space, no planning concerns and close to motorway links etc?

Wonder if David Conn will do an article on how their indecision has run down Walton, ruined Kirkby town centre and now stalling on a major site that was originally earmarked for development by Peel?

Peel are probably made up as it takes the heat off them to build something there as they are halfway into a 30 year masterplan that has yielded two buildings at Princes Dock. The cruise line and IOM ferry terminals were separate from their "development"

Development moves at a glacial pace in Liverpool normally without people employing further stalling tactics.

They are fixated on this concept of players "knowing what it is like to play for Everton" rather than actual talent.if any of them throw them a bone like one of their stupid soundbites they lap it up.

I'm sure Erik Meijer knew what it was like to play for Liverpool but he wasnt actually any good.

Who arethe Everton legends? Ferguson? The so called holy trinity, one of whom left for arsenal at the peak of his career, Kendall who did achieve something as manager and Harvey who didn‘t?  Since then who qualifies as a legend? Big Nev is the only one I can think of. Any ideas anyone?

Gazza?

Even at their worst times he failed to turn up with a fishing rod, some beers and a bucket of fried chicken, so he can't care that much about them either.

Just been on some Facebook page which asked its members to name the greatest ever players they've seen live. Two Evertonians just named their entire 1985 team.

Was Alan Ball actually any good?. My old boss used to go on about him like he was better than Maradona.
