That's hilarious- imagine your entire season ending up being defined by a quirk of scheduling which sees you playing sides in the top 6 on the run in.

As for qualifying for the Europa League- they would have to finish 6th or 7th, wouldn't they, depending on who wins the FA Cup? Sixth ain't happening, they're 17 points behind Chelsea and I doubt they can make up 6 points on wolves either, should the seventh spot end up qualifying.

In the Royal Hospital the other day, needs demolishing, every respect for all who work there. How Lord Lard Arse could consider Govt Loans for Everton I will never know. I understand said loans were only available for certain things but imagine them getting a loan while the new hospital is still in need of more funding and even further behind schedule. Once again I realise the funding could not be used for the hospital.

There you go large private business, have a large sum of money and run away quickly.

Hospital? Tough shit, people can get treated in a dilapidated hospital. All that matters is Everton.

Maybe Redrow should have got the contract.

Seen some nob on Facebook getting giddy over their new stadium, so much so that he even claimed they would be the team to bring the first premier league trophy to the city. No mention how they pay for the stadium. They're a strange bunch.  I don't know whether to laugh at them pity them or hate them.

Why would anyone offer to fund their stadium? Private Enterprise, why?

They talk about regenerating the area, Baxendale speaks like if it did come off it would all be down to them. Who wants to live there? It fucking stinks around there, no inferstructure to speak of, poor transport links. Hell of a lot of money to fix it all.

None of it from them, but they would take credit. Almost as if they know it is not feasible. When they eventually bite the bullett and say the dream is over, what then?

The entire club are off their tits.

Everton target overseas commercial growth alongside new stadium revenue boost to help catch up with Premier League's top six

Increased revenue from a new stadium alone will not be enough for Everton to close the gap to the top six, according to chief finance officer Sasha Ryazantsev.

The Toffees have the seventh-largest wage bill in the Premier League but their financial fortunes were put into perspective last week when neighbours Liverpool announced a record £106million profit, with turnover of £455million.

Everton's last accounts reported £189m turnover and a loss of £22.9m and Ryazantsev believes worldwide commercial growth is key to them catching up.

A new, improved, multi-year deal has been signed with Fanatics, the global leader in licensed sports merchandise, and includes commitments towards extensive work on retail planning for the move to a new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock.

But Ryazantsev insists their global ambitions mean they are looking further afield for other opportunities.

'The top six have an ability to attract sectors which would not seem obvious to partner with and we would like to continue with the number of partners, geography and sector expansion,' he said.

'Whilst we can do certain things commercially now there is only so much we can do without a new stadium.

'The top six all have a new stadium or a stadium that is future-proof - even those with smaller stadia can physically stay there for a longer time without having to move.

'The expectation is we will seek to expand further, obviously in Asia, which is a key market, but Africa is a key market for us as well with the relationship with (shirt sponsors) SportPesa.

'That is where we are. We have to make progress to be able to take it to the next level.'

The return to the club of former England and Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney in the summer of 2017 was seen as the first step in increasing Everton's worldwide profile.

His departure 12 months later left a void which the club hope will be filled by the likes of Richarlison, who within months of joining in July had made his debut for Brazil.

'The signing of Wayne Rooney did give us a spike in interest through the acquisition of one particular player,' said commercial director Alan McTavish.

'But if we look at the quality of the individuals we have invested in recent times we have two high-profile Brazilians (Richarlison and Bernard), a very high-profile Colombian (Yerry Mina), England's number one goalkeeper (Jordan Pickford).

'While we may no longer have Wayne Rooney as part of the playing squad the players we do have put us in a different space in terms of global appeal.

'Richarlison, on his first international break, scored two goals on his full debut so having the Brazilian number nine in the squad can only be a positive thing.'

Bramley-Moore Dock still offers the largest single potential for revenue growth, however.

'As we look towards the new stadium we are confident a naming rights agreement will form part of the commercial growth and will be part of the business model going forward,' added McTavish.

Time for a comedy break. A big, historic, greatest comedy break.

Player Valuation: Free Transfer
The docks are iconic, a great historic location, but going forward, within the next few years, there will be a 500% rise in containers arriving at the docks, transported in aboard the world's biggest ships and transported out on the back of hgvs. This will means the dock road will be one of the most polluted and congested areas in England, a pretty unhealthy place to be.

There is also the new cruise terminal, which again, on paper, adds to the appeal of the 'Liverpool Waters', but the reality, as the councils of London have realised, is potentially extreme pollution. But, Everton fans really need to know if and to what extent Peel Holdings will have any role in anything to do with the club, because issues such as air pollution, congestion, the involvement with Anderson or capacity, could be the least of the club's concerns.

Everton are a big, historic football club and Liverpool Council such be providing the club with the right location, with 360 degree access to the actual stadium and the ability to expand further in the future. The current set up, the involvement of Peel, Anderson's loan etc... should be cause for concern. It is up to Everton fans to look into this more and ask questions about anything they may be uncomfortable with.

This is one of England's greatest football clubs located within what could well be one of the five most important cities in England in the very near future and it will be a great asset to Merseyside if Everton are financially sound, well run and play within a great stadium.

Start with who is is selling the land, what that company are involved in and who with. This is one of the most important periods in Everton's history and the fans, the people who care about the club more than anybody, must, objectively, look at all factors.

Had a quick look down the sidebar and at the other links within that article, and the whole thing is “The Toffees could have done such and such”, and “Imagine if the Blues had managed to do so and so.”

One article about Ramsay going to Juventus and how it could all have been different if he’d only joined the blues, another about how if things had been different they could have ended up with the Borussia Dortmund midfield, etc etc.

You don’t even need to read them, which I didn’t, to have a good old laugh at them. Just the very fact there’s a market for this stuff because there’s nothing of any positivity to say beyond such fantasy speaks volumes.

Poor deal with Fanatics generating nothing like the income of top sides

Incredibly poor season, unlikely to challenge for Europe, again.

7th highest wage bill in the league.

Best player likely to be sold ( Richardson ) to fund another rebuild.

Two of their better current players not even owned by the club.

Likelihood of not being able to shift or lose money on recent highly paid flops.

Stadium still very much up in the air. No sign of finance yet.

Still praying for Usmanov and hoping against hope we don’t win the league.

100’s of millions spent and all you have to think about in February is another team losing.

Very sad times to be a blue. Vitriol does not a stadium or team build.

Evertonians don't understand why they get so much stick off us. They think we are bitter and jealous of them but there's nothing to be bitter about. It's because they shout their mouths off and tell everyone that they will do all kinds of amazing things yet nothing ever materialises.

Like a boring ugly Walter mitty fella in the pub who hasn't had a bird for ages but says loads will fancy him once he moves into a boss house and get a fanny magnet car yet hasn't worked out how he will pay for it.

Unless they get an Abramovich/Man City Sheikh type, the best they can ever hope for is to be the 7th best team in the league, there's no way they surpass that bar the odd season.

To be fair, they could finish top of the League...the season after they are relegated.

Usmanov is a steel guy though isn't he. I'm sure that's his motivation for being around. Not just for the steel for Everton's ground he probably wants to be involved with any other building project. I think there's plenty of reason their ground could be built, none of it with Everton's fortunes at heart.

There’s no better way of figuring out where you stand on a particular issue than seeing what Rod Liddle thinks and thinking the opposite.
