Are we building a stadium for the next twelve months or the next 70-100 years ?

We know that we can fill a 40k stadium because we do it every week. If the capacity of Goodison miraculously jumped to 45k overnight could we fill that but we simply cannot know that.
I don't understand the argument that we have 40k followers simply because that is all that fits into Goodison at present.
We don't know what the new ground is going to look like yet but even if it is even half decent in the iconic location on the docks then the new ground is going to become one of the big attractions for all tourists coming to Liverpool.
I was in Liverpool recently for the Liverpool Feis and the day after my wife dragged me onto a bus tour of the city.
I refused to get on one going to Anfield and couldn't find one going to Goodison... but every one of them will go to the new ground.

In short.. the sky is the limit

They're not going to open up that can of worms when every club taps up managers and players.

I think the way Southampton left us reliant on Lovren, Matip and Klavan for the first 5 months of last season effectively counts as a points deduction for tapping up Van Dijk.
