What a chasm in class, comparing this to Everton's pathetic statement:

"Everton Football Club can confirm the departure of Rafael Benitez as First Team manager.

Benitez, who joined Everton in June 2021, has left the Club with immediate effect.

An update on a permanent replacement will be made in due course."

They use a text expander so they just need to change the name and the date.

Has the plane banner fad worn out? It's only now seeing mention of one before Bobby Brown Shoes' departure that I realise there wasn't one for Rafa, and that seems very odd. How can any fans of a small club say they didn't do their absolute best to get an unwanted manager out if they don't have a plane banner?

RedshiteBooooooo. Has to be.

If Martinez and Henry really leave the Belgium National team to do this, they need their fucking heads examined. At least Rafa, as unsuitable as he was, wasn't working at the time.

Surely with the world cup this year they'd look to do both roles. Martinez can be sacked before the WC even starts.

It's needs to be someone who fully understands their mentalist fans desire to be treated as the biggest and smallest club in the world at the same time.

I had their match on yesterday and I think Tony Gale was on the commentary. I couldn't believe it when he said "Everton fans don't expect their team to be fighting for European places, they just want their teams to have a go". Where the fuck did he get that from?

Based on state of their finances and fact they are breaking the sustainability rules, i'd say its likely true.

I think Rafa was there to clear the wage bill down. I wonder what some of these players were getting if it's been worth hiring him for 6 months and then pay him off?

Who next for the blooooos?

They’ve tried the established, bigger managers route with Benitez, Ancelotti and, to a lesser extent, Koeman.

Do they try to go down that route again and get another now fading star or will they be too proud to admit to their status in the game by avoiding making a sensible, long term appointment who’s not necessarily an established name?

I think they’ll go for a name again, when they’d probably be better served by appointing a hungry, younger manager with a longer term outlook who wants to bring an identifiable style of play to their team.

If they went a bit left field, Scott Parker or Ryan Lowe could be worth a look.

Thats what they need to do but a young manager will make mistakes.

A couple of bad results and he will be hounded out the club and it will back to square 1.

They are an absolute shambles

If they didnt despise us so much I'd probably feel a smidgen of sympathy for the poor sods who follow them around the country.

Rafa had no qualms about threatening to leave Liverpool either when he wasn’t getting his way - hence the shenanigans around Klinsmann.  He’s a professional manager who has made a good living out of being employed and being sacked.  He’s a pragmatist living off diminishing- though still highly lucrative- returns.  He’s doing what most of us would do in his situation.

The ironic thing about the klinsman situation was that the club had done exactly the same to houllier, when we approached rafa.

He didnt mention that for some reason

Yeah.....some serious money being paid out.

Their wage to turnover ratio was up at something mad like 85% - totally unsustainable and they have been making massive losses year after year with no signs of their revenues growing.

They are in trouble.

Fuck them...i always used to say 'no don't want them down its bad for the city, and bad for the older decent blues'...but now - fuck them, hope they drop, hope they fall through leagues and frankly i wouldn't be arsed if they go bust - and way they are going both are a realistic possibility.
