Why do they always bang on about Liverpool neglecting the area and running it down?.

 

Went to Anfield yesterday with my son and took a few photos with him outside the ground. There's always loads of people walking around there visiting the stadium. The area is still a bit messy but there's been a lot of improvements with new housing, roads and new businesses opening. There's also been a lot of improvements to the Park too which Liverpool paid for. 

 

Then drove round Everton's ground to show him and Everton have done nothing to improve the area, all the streets are run down and there's no evidence of any money being put into the area, it looks far more neglected than the areas round Anfield. 

 

They could argue that they are moving grounds but it's looked like this for at least the last 20 years and well before they announced the unicorn arena. If they do move then the area will be even more neglected.

Everton have looked P poor from what I have seen. lucky 3-1 flattered them. Richarlison looks on fire but injuries after 15 games in summer and don't think they can win wo him.

Richarlison hasn't had a break and is one of the few players who are currently fully match fit. Let's see if he's still full time of beans come February.

Didn't you know the EitC trumps absolutely everything because they are the most generous & philanthropic club ever to have existed in the entirety of football? 

 

The area by GP is shocking. They have taken housing to improve their hospitality facilities. and despite this "giving back" to the area when they leave GP, the businesses in the local area will go to the wall. They're quick enough to tell us how many millions of jobs the stadium will create during the build phase - but the reality is, the bulk of peoples spend on match days will move from small local businesses to the chains and multinationals in town. And as those businesses go, what's going to replace them? And we'll all be gutted to see the brick go.

It makes me laugh to see them go on about running the area down when the area round their stadium is completely neglected. The streets look dirty and most shops are closed down. Maybe its because all their fans are local and they don't care about any tourists seeing it?.

 

They blame Liverpool for running down the area yet the council have responsibility to the area yet moved tons of problem families into the Anfield area. I know this as I have a relative who lives near the ground and work with people who live at the back of the KD stand. 

 

Everton ave also contributed to Kirkby being neglected and not having a large supermarket there since they pulled out of the Tesco deal. 

 

Yet they've gone on about Liverpool forcing people out of their homes like tye Chinese government do when they want to build a motorway. The club has always offered people money in excess of their valuation. The only people who refused to go were the two sisters in Kemlyn Road and a couple of landlords who wanted to rinse the club. 

 

Everton also demolished houses on 3 sides of their ground to redevelop it at various points but that never gets mentioned.

everton's idea of making the area around the pit look good is giving the local primary buckets of blue paint every year so it looks newish.

 

The bit of ground behind the Park End is a disgrace. What's that they say, it's not owned by everton? No, and neither is the area beyond Anfield's curtilage but they say it's still Liverpool's 'shithole.'

You know what, I have no issues with the criticism of both and club and the council over many years when we were tinning properties up at a time when we were supposedly looking to move on from Anfield - even if it was only to the park. We were bad neighbours and the communication between the club and the local residents was way, way below where it should have been. And that indecision had knock on effects in terms of how the area was managed by the city council. I don't feel the need to defend LFC - we behaved badly and while we might have offered good money for people to move, there were plenty of years where we weren't offering people money to go and they had to live next door to tinned up houses that were constantly full of smackheads.  It's important imo, we recognise where the club should do more - and most of this happened or at least started when the club was owned by a fan. It's better now because it's in the economic interests of the club to be better now, I don't believe there should be any pats on the back - even through the recent redevelopments and planning apps to stage non-footballing events, club communication has been less than it should be and has been nothing more than the bare minimum. 

 

But I find it astonishing they they feel able to slaughter us over this, when their club is little different. The only real difference is they've never had an ambition to stay in the area the tell us they love, so they've never tinned up houses. They can't wait to get out. This obsession with people on cruise ships seeing their stadium as their platform to get forward is effectively saying Walton holds them back. They don't want to be there, they just want out for the dream of getting tourists they keep telling us they'd never want. Personally I think L4 is one of the best assets we have and we should take care of it. 

 

They're just absolutely massive hypocrites. They love L4, but can't wait to leave. They love their parochial base, yet long for our tourists. They hate how we've hurt L4, yet they're about to leave all of those businesses in that area to fend without the income of match day and their pubs running along walton road to go into red hands ... and why? Because they think they will own town and attract tourists.
